I agree, I watched a couple of minutes and it was a joke, turned it off and watched again for a couple of minutes after I got back from pizza and beer. The pizza and beer was way better than the game.
Haven't seen a minute for the past 5-6 years. Pickup games at my gym are more interesting than this crap.
can't remember the last time i watched more than a few minutes of the allstar game. they've tried lots of stuff, but if the players don't really care, there's nothing to be done. i remember liking the allstar game as a kid, but i may have just been less attuned to how little it resembled a regular game back then. and yes, i know guys did try a little harder for, like, honor or whatever. that said, i'm not sure that trying in the allstar game every really made any sense anyway. i know we lionize kobe for the competitive spirit there, but there's nothing at stake except the possibility of injury that impacts your livelihood. i get why modern players just try to stay out of each other's way for the most part.
In general, the new format (each Q is its own thing + target score) has worked really well to up the level of competition. This was the first year it didn't really work. I like the live drafting by the captains, too. I just don't find guys pulling up for 3s exciting. Watching Dame pull up before he crosses half court is awesome. Or watching Curry's show last year was fun. He's a 3 point showman where most aren't. Watching Tatum swish 3s is just boring. To me the highlight of last night was watching the two Boston guys go at each other. That was the only real competition we saw in the game. But overall it was a bad weekend for the league and their top end product. You have no one competing in the dunk contest, Antetokounmpo had to sit out of the skills comp, your two captains in the all star game barely played due to injury. Guessing Luka asked to keep his minutes down (19). Malone was protecting his own with Joker playing 20 minutes. After the game you have the head coach complaining about the product You have Jaylen Brown doing the same Then SGA takes the opportunity to pull a Rod Tidwell. Not great.
get a hyper luxury car company (bentley?) to sponsor (can't; cuz kia, but...) and each player on the winning team gets one.
but then again, if the players are so wealthy that need luxury cars to motivate them, will even that do the trick? How many millions must be dropped to get them to help promote their own sport to fans who pay their salaries? Kind of a sad state of affairs.
“That is the worst basketball game ever played” — All-Star Game losing coach Mike Malone Right arm Mike! errrr right something!
just do away with all-star games altogether name guys to the all-star teams, but just forget about the actual game
yea that was comically bad They need to get rid of this stupid Team Giannis and Team LeBron crap - go back to East vs West, bring back players wearing their team uniforms and not stupid custom jerseys, and make it a traditional 1st 2nd 3rd 4th quarter game not winning individual quarters.
Growing up in the 80s, it was fun to watch, now todays players don't give a s***. I'm surprised they still play these games, and people actually watch it.
Home court advantage for Finals East vs West like Baseball? Regular scoring. Players probably would never go for it.
Year of free lap dances at their preferred strip club of choice to the winning squad. I think this would motivate most of these bums.
Harden and PG would be all star starters for the next decade. Lou Will would come out of retirement with one and only one goal.
