Smooth mid range game. Big shots when the lights got bright.

I think that baseline midrange J makes him dangerous as a wing in the corner.
He can make the open 3 but he prefers to step in for that midrange shot.

Beautiful mid range J. That's what teams will give up when they are closing out hard in crunch time.

He's definitely a finisher. Once he starts with any sort of move the shot is going up. He ain't passing the rock for sure

Luckily with this team they'll get him the ball when he has an advantage

It was for THT. I finally saw him with those long arms take one last year. No swear to god he actually juked a guy and get this … jumped into the air even before letting it go. It was easy peasy and swish. My jaw was on the floor. :D How in the world did that guy come this far to the NBA and not feel and not have someone he trusted to tell him a mid range jumper is a handy thing to have? Yeah I bet Rui with Handy working with him will be kind of a Kawhi lite with his mid range game.

Rui's midrange J is automatic. As advertised. But yeah, Handy can work with him on his handles to get better looks.

He looks more comfortable out there than in the handful of Wizards games I've watched the past two seasons. He has a more defined role here and less to handle.

And its just nice to have a big wing out there.

I think Rui can really thrive with us in a simplified role. On offense, he just needs to (1) spot up for corner threes, (2) go to the one dribble mid-range pull up if he's run off the three-point line, and (3) isolate in the midrange when a smaller defender switches onto him. Defensively, we don't need him to be an individual lockdown guy. He just needs to be able to use his size/strength to stay in front of bigger wings or funnel quicker ballhandlers into AD.

it may be a tall order, but the last thing on offense he needs is to figure out how to read when they counter his midrange game. once he develops a rep for hitting that little attack on the closeout, they'll send a second guy, and if he's a good decision maker, we can get even easier buckets.

defensively, he just needs to be aware and keep his hands up. just having the length on the floor makes passing lanes shrink, shots feel less comfortable, etc. i'd put him on the other team's least effective ballhandler so he can't just be iso'd up at the start of a play.

Preemptive bump (was one drop away from the netherworld). Rui is new here and only has known the euphoric high of being on Page 1 of Lakersball. Too soon to risk him slipping into the ignominy of Page 2, even if just briefly …. some guys that could crush their confidence.

be interested to see if they run him and AD without lebron a bit against second units. he can make the defense have to make tough choices in and around the key/AD.

This acquisition of Rui is Ham’s chance to rest LeBron with this depth. I highly doubt he would.

Kind of a forgotten man with the rest of the acquisitions but Rui will be huge for us. That mid range game is deadly and hard to defend.
