Oh he has been, just look at this form But also it’s his job to talk Lakers every day. We sucked all season, I’m glad Rob made these moves, but it still may be too late to make the playoffs.
in a matter of hours, we basically undid the russ trade. we wasted two years of lebron/AD in the process (though AD's injury was going to hurt last year anyway), but we have a young team with multiple mid-tier players who are appropriately-sized for their positions. and we have the rights to everyone and the ability to pay all the key players if we want. all for one pick.
I'm holding out hope we can at least get to play in game. We have a favorable schedule but we will need the team to gel quickly.
it doesn't matter. you can't just use a platform to completely defame the lakers' front office and then just get to keep going when they prove that you knew nothing the whole time. i don't see how he has any credibility at this point. i can forgive fans on a message board, but this is his job, as you said. if i f***ed up at my job this badly, i'd be fired. and i'm tenured!
I can’t tell if you’re serious or not. I’ll just say he’s a podcaster, he’s a fellow fan, and he mostly comes at things from the comedy angle, I never took it that serious, I just share sometimes when he makes a point I agree with and find his shows entertaining. He’s just a hardcore fan, I get it, he’s the guy who annoys his friends (the Lakers Twitter community) because he’s always talking Lakers, there’s no standard he’s being held to other than is he entertaining. Plenty of Twitter find him annoying and hate him though, if that helps, he gets enough hate on there, plenty of shots at his looks, his family, all that good stuff. He also hears a lot more behind the scenes stuff than we do though, so I’m not sure his lack of faith is entirely unjustified. But, whatever, it was a very good trade deadline for us.
Again, I’m REALLY glad Rob was able to turn him into valuable pieces, that it had gotten so bad waiving him was on the table is wild
Holy crap!! And yeah this was what it was like last year all season trying to hold him accountable in film sessions, as reported also by unnamed sources (probably Handy because I doubt he gives a f*** can get a job anywhere in the league, as opposed to Vogel always taking the high road, with the REP of being a PLAYERS' COACH) .... while they were still letting him start all damn season. Russ has no self awareness to the kind of player he is now and thinks he has just earned everything he wants currently because of the totality of his HOF career. Well good wherever he plays next against us I am sure his rage and desire for revenge for what we "did to him" isn't going to make him shoot any better consistently or fix the dumb stuff. He's had ample opportunity with the Lakers and 2 coaching staffs bending over backwards trying to make him happy while also having the job of trying to win games.
i'm serious, and it's because of the last part. his sources are obviously s***. if he wants to build credibility as a "plugged-in" reporter, he should stop idiotic editorializing. marc stein doesn't do this stuff. and if he instead thinks he's a pundit, he should quit because he proved to be awful at it this year. all he did was pick an agenda and try to make observations fit it. local skip bayless. i don't care what he looks like, nor have i attacked his appearance or whatever. i attacked his dumb ideas only. i think maybe getting dumped and cut may finally make it snap into place for him. but maybe not. he's obviously incredibly stubborn. cuts both ways.
YES YES YES YES YES!!!! So happy for Pelinka to pull this off. He gets so much crap when it was clear LeBron was pulling strings. Since the Russ trade, I really believe the dynamic shifted and LeBron lost power, hence the passive agressive things every now and then. He did really well in the off-season with an exception and vet mins. And absolutely crushed it this deadline. So happy people are giving him his flowers. We are definitely more cautious moving assets and long term is important now. I really miss having a team build chemistry and playing together consecutive seasons. We got younger, longer, contracts better distributed and cost-controlled to build a baseline for our next year's, have the control of our assets now with the bird rights and can move the foundation of our next years. We are not contending, but we made huge steps to make the franchise strong again. Give this man a week off, what a job!
Grinder!! Like Kobe, or Kobe wouldn't have been so close to him. Why he "probably" got frustrated trying to get s*** done waiting to hear on decisions from part time Magic and finally groused about it "probably" to someone internally (maybe outside ...who knows) .... and it got back to Magic who blew it up into "backstabbing".
Imagine knowing your situation with Russ behind the scenes is so bad you are about to waive him, but yet somehow you not only are able to negotiate a trade but one that gets you valuable pieces back? Hell of a job Rob.
whatever he did to piss magic off was great for the health of the franchise. one more year with magic making decisions might have ended everything.
