Yes. It is about the best deal we could make and if we were able to spin at least Beverley for another 3 and D, even if it is a young project

Not that excited about this proposed DLO trade. Especially if we're giving up picks in the deal as well.
Also, DLO is on an expiring deal as well. Not sure this would move the needle much for us, to be honest.

Two thoughts on a potential DLo trade:

It would motivate @trodgers to hang out on site more. :Westbrook Come Here2:

I would need @D-Fish Man to finally spill the beans on DLo. :ADeyesonyouleft:

I don’t think we need depth. I don’t know why everyone wants that. We’ve already got guys that we can’t fit into the rotation. This to me is our depth pieces outside of AD and Lebron:

    Schroeder / Russ
    Bev / Walker / Reaves / Christie
    Rui / Troy Brown Jr
    Gabriel
    Bryant

Any of those guys could play off the bench as depth. What we need is clear starters that tangibly improve the team. That’s why I’ve wanted OG for so long, guy can shoot but more importantly he is an elite defender. Then you’ve got your SF, PF and C starters sorted in OG / Lebron / AD. And it doesn’t matter that we have a bunch of average guards, because we just play the the guys who are hot.

Instead we’re going to trade one bench guard for 2 more. And give up picks to do it, like that makes any great sense.

What. We're trading literally the WORST guard in the LEAGUE in Russ for a starting PG who would start on pretty much every team in th eleague in D-LO, and a guy in Beasley who can actually shoot, and a wing defender in Vanderbilt which is what this team has actually been missing the entire year?

This trade improves our roster by A LOT and best part is, if it's for just one pick, we still have the other pick to use to upgrade the roster via Bev/Walker deal. Imagine we get Bogdanovic too?

We need to be looking at NEXT year more than anything. This year is probably a wash regardless of moves...but I think next year we can actually make some noise if we make the right moves right now.

Most of the "depth" you listed wouldn't be playing meaningful minutes on good teams.

Man… if Irwin thinks it’s a good deal and would have to apologize to the FO… maybe I should wait and see

Plus, if in fact someone gets in Ham's ear and PatBev is moved down the rotation (or better yet traded for another 3 and D)....not only would it be a huge size improvement with the two 6'4 guards and 6'9 Vandy (and then putting 6'5 Reaves back into the rotation) but you would be replacing a 35-year and 34-year old (as well as moving down an almost 30-year old) for a 26 and 27 year old. plus Austin who is 24.

Also adding Vandy, who isn't even 24 yet.

So, size and youth (while also adding Rui (who turned 25 today btw) would be a HUGE thing for us.....and if ever a game showed our age, it was last night against OKC

DLO is a starter and a great long-range shooter. That alone improves our depth to

    DLO/Dennis, which is really solid.
Beasley is a guy who can start, play good, versatile defense with those long arms and shoot. He'll even shoot high volume, up to 10 threes if you give him a green light and likely hit 38% of those. He's even shot better several times in his career.
And Vanderbilt is a big who focuses on defense and can give you a solid 8/8 without too much trouble.

Those pieces, just like Rui, actually fit better together. Our current depth just isn't that great, unfortunately, and most of them will leave anyway. This builds better for the future IMO. Look:

    DLO/Dennis, that's respecatble.
    Vanderbilt/Reaves/Max
    Bron or Rui/Brown? Someone else?
    Rui or Bron/Vanderbilt/Gabriel?
    AD/Bryant? Someone else?

There's actually legit shooting, size, and more versatile defense there. It's a start.

It doesn’t change the fact that we already have 10 players who can be part of a rotation.

Not sure if anyone has noticed we are scoring fine, we can’t get any stops. Dlo and Beasley aren’t helping you with that.

And if you’re trading both picks, it’s not too far off a disaster.

Dlo is a so so player. I’m not convinced he’ll start either with Schroeder and Ham’s relationship.

Beasley isn’t a defender. He will shoot it for sure, but he’ll probably bump Reaves out of the rotation who I think is a better player. Bev is a coach’s favourite.

As for Vanderbilt, he is good role player, but he isn’t that much better than Gabriel.

If it’s a single pick, I can see some of the point but it’s still a sideways move imo. At two picks this would be a bad move.

    Russell/Schroder
    Beasley/Reaves/Christie
    Lebron/Vanderbilt/Brown Jr
    Rui/Vanderbilt/JTA
    AD/Bryant

I can see Bev and Walker going out after to trim some of the fat.

You can't be status quo still with keeping Russ past this deadline? You just can't??

I'll agree with you there. Maybe if the 2nd pick is heavily protected... we'll see. 1 pick -- I say we pull the trigger there. I'll disagree with you on DLO slightly, I mean he's not a star, but he's a starter in this league and can really shoot. Beasley... OK, he doesn't have the reputation of a defender, but he is strong with long arms and as you said, he will shoot it. I mean, I respect your opinion here, we can disagree here and there, but you make solid points for sure.

Well if the trade only involved 1 FRP, I’m pretty sure non-Laker fans would melt down at that.

So many fans of other teams have been holding on to the idea that the Lakers would need to give up 1 FRP to dump Russ and another FRP to get back any rotation players.
