I'm hearing this take a lot too and its complete nonsense. Luka's closest comp from an offensive role perspective is probably later-career LeBron and he and Kyrie thrived together. Kyrie is a career 39% three-point shooter, he can play off Luka just fine like he did with LeBron. This idea that Luka (or any player) should be the primary ballhandler 100% of the time is dumb and never bears out. We've seen Harden and CP3 wear out in the playoffs every single year after dominating the ball all regular season. Diversifying your offense is always better.

Where are you getting Rob offered either of Reaves or Christie, let alone both in the deal for Irving? I thought it was reported we didn’t want to give up either of them. The Nets asked reportedly. Then again I have missed the last 40 minutes or so.

It’s over if KD winds up in Boston.

not exactly. KD isn't exactly the most durable player, so if they really did trade brown for KD and KD gets injured, that's that. not to mention brown and tatum are a great fit and it's no guarantee that KD would fit in well with tatum

I read a report we offered Russ + the FRPs only, I saw another that said BRK wanted us to include Reaves + Max just to be considered and I read yet another report that Rob offered one of the kids (my guess would be Max if this is true, as Reaves is integrated well in the unit already) but who knows what the truth is and I am sure Rob at some point said, ok these guys are trying to take us to the cleaners.

I agree with Rob, with have cap space and we have assets to continue shopping and besides the great need is at wing, not more guards. A knock-down shooter at the 1 or 2 would be nice but we really need 3 & D wings.

nets would be dumb to trade KD and blow it up when they have a pretty deep roster as it is and in a playoff position

i believe the phrasing was "both picks, reaves, and christie would be on the table" if kyrie was willing to do an extension. as it stood, i think we were only offering them one pick. as i said (and other reports seemed to support), we probably tried to peddle our other first for two players as good as dinwiddie and DFS and came up empty. i mean, dallas wouldn't have traded us dinwiddie and DFS for russ and a 1st, imo. so bkn took the better deal for them.

Gotta hope our picks are more enticing to other teams.

Even ugly contracts too be real it makes it easier to trade or absorb a big name with a huge contract ....as long as it's not 3+years :Westbrook Come Here2:

Conley/Beasley/Vanderbilt for one of the picks unprotected, get it done! I don't see any Jazz package worth both picks that doesn't include Markkanen.

Not the point. Ainge wants a pick to take Russ off our hands who makes your first deal even possible.

Lakers would likely have to take contract(s) back and they would be doing so with both Conley (partially guaranteed for 23 million) and Beasley (team option of 16 million) but might have to take on Olynyk or Gay instead of Vanderbilt.

Taking on contracts is the one "asset" that prevents any of the only four real assets we have (2 first rounders and the 2 kids) being limited.

I like Conley. But I like Bogdanovich more. Not to beat a dead horse but we could have had those two and probably Beasley if we insisted (instead of Gay) in the summer. Didn't do it and I just don't know if this Jazz trade makes a lot of sense at this time. I'd rather kick the tires on the Bogdanovich for Beverly Jones and JTA plus the FRP one last time. Or Gary Trent Jr. for some seconds plus Beverly and Walker.

I'm just not seeing a Russ trade before the deadline, but I guess who knows?
