I think it's a good deal for the Nets. They can have the best defensive 5 of the league with Ben-Royce-KD-Finney Smith and Claxton. With Dinwindie, Curry, Harris, Warren and the kids from the bench.

West is weak and wide open :

On one hand the rental is worth the risk for the Mavs , had to show Doncic you're serious about trying to win .

On the other hand , if the Mavs don't make a deep postseason rub , Kyrie walks and Mavs don't do s*** in FA , which they have for a while , your team is going to be very average next season.

I'd have taken the risk too , at least you try to get better and will have less regrets if Doncic requests a trade later

The main question is will Kyrie be and stay available for the playoffs :

    Missed the 18 playoffs
    Missed the 20 playoffs
Got injured 9 games in during the 21 playoffs

    No.

We don't need to go through another season like the last two where we have a high paid anchor on our team just for Terry Rozier
    We finally agree.

Terry Rozier is a nice player but he isn't worth going through another season like the last two with a 30+ million anchor on our team who is a negative asset. Only way I take him (with Rozier) is if Charlotte is giving us more assets. Westbrook's expiring is 3X a better asset currently than Hayward's right now.

    boo.

    figured.

trent or rozier is my guess. whichever can be had for 2nds or a pretty protected 1st.

rather not deal with them, tbh.

i never believed this one. if chicago's season flames out, maybe they deal lavine in the summer.

    he does.

what's the theoretical mechanism here? JTA/jones isn't enough salary, and i don't think we move walker for reddish. i also don't see us doing a bigger move for fournier unless the knicks are coughing up a 1st (all of their recently collected picks are heavily protected, btw), which seems unlikely.

i suppose if they threw in quickley with reddish i get more interested, but they'd want a 1st back from us in a bev for reddish/quickley deal.

Haynes and then others reported it. Haynes called Chris to tell him first. Yeah, i'd imagine CP3 isn't too thrilled about that. The squabble was over the picks. Suns offered CP, Crowder and undisclosed picks. Nets (reported elsewhere) wanted 3 firsts from them. I think that's nearly as absurd as what they were asking from us.

Listening to the Stein/Haynes pod this morning. They both said if Lakers had the best deal (and by that, I interpret it as the only deal) ultimately Nets would've taken it. But they had no desire to send him here if they could at all avoid it. Stein said they wanted Rui too, but he can't be included because he was just traded. Basically they wanted everything that was of any value and wasn't bolted down. Sounded like anything we conceded, they were going to counter asking for more.

That would be an affirmative. While OUR guys Reaves and Christie are feeling pretty good today knowing we wouldn’t sacrifice them for Kyrie Irving.

i'm still convinced this was the turner/hield situation, too. they were just going to keep asking for more, imo.

I think the biggest difference there was that Turner and Buddy didn't do anything wrong to their owner or team. So, I still think something there could have been worked out. Tsai was like over my dead body will I help Kyrie. When you have to navigate being a team another team doesn't want to help or let win the trade, that's one thing (you have to pay a little extra... Lakers tax). When there's that hurdle on top of the owner not wanting to do anything to help the prema donna superstar get what he wants because he's been one giant pain in the a** ever since he got here, that's a whole 'nother thing. I think that conversation ultimately escalates to Tsai asking for a percentage of our TV deal.

The Athletic’s Tony Jones with the latest in Utah

Jazz have talked to literally everyone
They sifted through their offers over the weekend. There's an offer of multiple 2nds for Vanderbilt (f*** your 1st round ask for any of your role players, Ainge)
As of Sunday, talks regarding Russ were not substantial
Vanderbilt is the most likely to be moved
    Regarding Conley
    [IMG]

If Conley moves, it's to a contender

I thought Conley was “washed” and Russ just having a “slight” blip down on his career because LeBron and AD didn’t eat lunch enough together or something. :D

pretty unimpressive list, plus there is no indication that any ring chaser would want to come here unless he has no other option with the top teams. We look very far from title candidates right now.
