To be fair, I bet Kyrie doesn't even know what he wants! The guy comes up with issues nearly every year.

In regards to him being here, short term it probably will work out well. However, I can see him blowing up and quitting again next year and getting paid is going to motivate him less (as you mentioned).

I don't think anyone would've imagined that Kyrie's career would be like this after winning that ring in 2016. It looked like he was going to be a dominant force like Kobe. One of the bigger waste of talents in recent memory.

Usually I would believe a report like this, but this is Kyrie we talking about. The man is a such an unprofessional, unstable nutcase. He could very much in the next hour do an about-face.

yea, i think the best thing for him mentally/psychologically would be to play for a team with minimal expectations; just go out there and ball (have fun), throw up some empty stats, and give the crowd/mob a nice distraction a few nights a week. if we get him, great... if not, we don't have to worry about the antics/variables that he brings into the organization.

Begley thinks the Clipps reports are coming from the Nets side.

yeah, makes perfect sense that teams want him to do an extend and trade, but it also makes sense that kyrie wants to try and get that other 120 million this summer.

really hurts his value in trade.

and now i'm curious as to what the "strong offer" was from the clips. if the term "strong offer" came from the nets side, and we've gotten no details, i'm wondering if it even included powell and whether the pick had protections.

Woj first reported the Clips interest, but the first person saying they made a “strong offer” is a Clips beat writer for The Athletic. Definitely begs the question of what a strong offer actually means.

wait--in the spurs/nets hypothetical, are they saying we'd get kyrie AND poeltl? i'd consider giving up both firsts for that, i think.

we might have to fire ham, though. which...

anyway, the clippers "strong offer" is hilarious. have a bunch of dudes that regularly get dnp-cds and maybe one first.

If true, good idea by our FO. I ain't giving all our picks, plus our only young assets for a gentlemen's agreement with Kyrie.

to be clear, the reporter said both picks, reaves, and christie would all be "in play", not that they'd all go. my guess is the lakers might trade one of reaves or christie to get protections on a pick or picks or something like that. no way we send all 4 (both unprotected picks, both players).

feel like you can probably snag fvv for substantially less in a 3-teamer, and rozier for even less. all this needs to be factored in.

edit: and the snag here is that it's not in kyrie's best interest to take the extension. if he keeps kyrie-ing, he loses up to 100 million dollars by signing it. he'll get at least a three-year max offer from someone this summer, as i mentioned above.

why? if he just plays well (or sits the rest of the year) and stays out of trouble until july, he stands to make more than the 2/78 he'd be signing on for.

we'd need lebron to get in his ear about it. and i'm not even sure that does it.

like our two stars, kyrie sees the writing on the wall, and there's a chance this is his last big deal. it's why he's given the nets such a headache about it. if the whole point of it was to get the 4 year max, why settle for two-years at a lower number?

    1. who says he wants to be competitive?
    2. who says he doesn't believe he + whomever is competitive?

detroit and houston both think they can start winning next year and have max room--det especially makes sense with cade as the big passing pg that would complement irving well.

orlando's got a bunch of guards but has already been rumored to be ready to give fvv big money if the opportunity arises, so why not kyrie?

there's also s&t possibilities (but not really with us because we have no persistent salaries and would be flirting with the apron.

By all means then, go to these teams. Saves everyone the headache lol.

I will say though, Detroit, Houston, Orlando, and San Antonio aren't exciting big markets. Not sure if he cares about that, but something else to think about.
