Yeah I'm ready to embrace Krazy Kyrie if it gets us off Russ, but I 1000% support offering him a 2 year extension to match up with LeBron. No way I want Kyrie 3 years from now without LeBron around to keep him straight. If Kyrie says 4 year extension or no deal, then, for me it's no deal/

Personally I’m good with not giving this wishy washy nut job 200 mil over 4 years. Add to it that he almost always gets hurt in the playoffs. If we don’t get him because we don’t trust being tied to him for that long, I’m good with it, move on.

I really wanted Kyrie when there was like 50 to 55 games to play, that would have been enough time to assimilate him and win enough games to go directly to the playoffs but now it would be stupid to throw away future picks for a chance to be in the play in lol

I feel the same. The guy is a nut job, period so I’m shaky on the 2 just think it may be our only shot to truly compete.

If we opt against Kyrie, I hope we have a backup plan that isn’t just staying put. If we don’t make a move, lebron is going to demand out after the season IMO.

All the articles are saying that the Nets can give him the 4 year 200 million but if he gets traded, he can sign a 2 year 78 million dollar deal. I'm not sure why that is some kind of big deal. He wouldn't be asking for 4 years. It would be a Kawhi type of situation, if someone gave up assets and traded for him, but he didn't want to resign there. The idea that nobody wants him, doesn't seem to jive with the number of teams bidding on him for rest of this season either. He will be a hot commodity over the summer if nobody grabs him now. It's also kind of murky, as to why Brooklyn supposedly, has this strong upper hand in the situation. Hell of a talent for a 2 year gamble IMO.

The question is now, will Dallas or Phoenix offer trades and agree to a 4-year deal? It seems we won't match that and I can understand.

We're going nowhere in the next 4 years anyways so I'll give Kyrie what he wants . Worth the risk imo

We're going nowhere as long as Jeanie is the owner. I like her as a person but she's too poor to compete with the big boys. There isn't another Bron, willing to come here and save this franchise... unless Luka gets pissed i hope.

... We have a window - you pay the price to compete and figure out the rest lately. I hope this only a chess move but knowing Rob ... they will screw this up again.

Kyrie is our only longshot to truly compete this season and the next.

We'll probably need to include both picks in the deal to get it done so hopefully he comes with Joe Harris or Seth

4 years is definitely a tough sell. There’s other players who can help out there.

it's exactly like the summer in that he's asking for 4 years and only bkn can offer that, so he's threatening to leave. just this time, it's a lot closer, and i think the threat is slightly more real. i mean, he's unlikely to sign in houston or orlando, but they will have the cash he's wanting if that's all there is.

i think it will be a kawhi situation, in which the clippers give up marginal talent for a one-year title gambit (and they really might get it, which would be disastrous for us), though i think they have the cash to just re-sign him to his max after this and not feel a thing.

reading the tea leaves, it sounds like we only want him if he'll sign the extension as part of the trade. i get that. and at that point, i may just pay both picks and deal with the fallout, as we'd have two years to recover from the lebron/AD/kyrie era before we have to start paying the piper in unprotected picks. but we won't pay the picks for a rental.

i actually have questions about how badly dallas wants him. i think phx does, but phx has roster problems, imo, and they're going to try to dump those in a kyrie trade (this is dallas's motivation, too, imo, if any). the clips got involved because a) they don't want us leapfrogging them yet again and b) they have money/role players to burn.

i hope we can at least keep the bidding high enough to where the clips have to spend everything they've got (powell/covington/all future draft capital) and we have a smaller deal set up elsewhere for when the clips go all in. we need klutch to be working for us in toronto. maybe we can snag fvv while the clippers beat us to kyrie. we probably win that move, tbh.

i just hope we don't put all eggs in the kyrie basket when there's other stuff that can happen, if only to better set us up for next year.

after the pels loss, i really can't feature us doing anything this year. that was a winnable must-win in which a team we're competing with was missing its top dog and they just ran over us in the 4th quarter.

I think we either do some underwhelming deal that is out of the blue or under the radar, like a trade with CHA; or we do nothing and just let about 65 million in expiring contracts(Westbrook, Pat Pev, Walker) just go to waste.

Meanwhile, I agree that Kyrie will most likely be traded to either the Clippers or Suns.

Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if this whole thing is smokescreen and BKN acquiesces to Kyrie and signs him to that 4 year extension and this whole thing was a waste of time for everyone involved.

Just give him the 4 year max. If we’re all being honest, Kyrie is probably our only shot to have a championship-caliber team while LeBron is still a Top 10 player (i.e, this season and next season).

Ya, I was not impressed with Ham's decision making last night. Sometimes he just seems lost on the sidelines.

He forgot to get rests to either AD/LBJ in the 3rd quarter and had to sit them both down late in that period which led to both of them playing entire 4th quarter and they looked tired at the end, waited way too long to get Schroeder back in (the only guard quick enough to at least somewhat guard Alvarado, who was blowing past RW and Brown- we had an 11 point lead cut to 3 by the time he did) and then the big head scratcher was not using Hachimura against Ingram in the second half and putting 6'1 Patrick Beverley on him...

Another final box sheet where you aren't surprised to see plus/minuses of Westbrook (-4- he has not had a positive plus/minus in the last 8 games) and Beverley (-10) while Schroeder and Hachimura (played only 19 minutes and ZERO in the fourth quarter) were the only ones with positives.

Was hoping we were finally getting Reaves back, but even then I question what Ham will do with this roster when he does return.

my dad thinks this is it, but i think the nets have to be tired of this stuff. they've now refused him twice on the same contract demand, and they can't afford him walking. now, might they acquiesce in the summer when the rubber really hits the road? sure. but dallas just learned the hard way that feelings can last. i'm sure they thought they could just up their offer and brunson wouldn't walk to ny. but he was pissed.

i think houston, det, and orlando would probably all offer kyrie max, tbh. even with all his baggage. will he be residually annoyed enough to walk? he's already got a ring; he just wants his cash. hell, probably playing somewhere with low expectations that allows him to shine might be what we wants!
