Yeah soon after I posted, I realized Kuz was the last roleplayer we had with a similarly refined offensive skillset. But even if Rui ends up just being a Kuzma caliber player, I’d chalk that up as a W!
he's a notch below kuz, imo, which the wizards ascertained. but he's a nice pickup for us. but instead of imagining kawhi leonard or something, again just think marcus morris/(poor man's) tobias harris type. just get there and it's a huge win.
you guys weren't Tyson Punchout fans? buncha kids running around here and it's "wacist" if we're being technical. and my wife is Asian, so there's that. He's blasian, but it's the last name. I feel like it's out there somewhere, but can't find it. Hachimura Feels like a very traditional Japanese name, but can't place it or why it sounds familiar. If you didn't know Rui was part Japanese, I'm not certain you would guess by looks. I haven't watched him play yet, but looks like he has a very complimentary skill set and has nice highlight clips showing good chemistry with Russ. Since we are extending Russ in the offseason, this moves makes sense.
