Burks would make an excellent sniper off the bench. Imagine Russ passing to Christie and Burks who are 40% 3pt shooters alongside Gabriel and Bryant (who is himself a nice shooter). That's an interesting bench.

Lebron and Reaves in the starting unit can both create while Schroeder and Rui are good iso players. Everyone can pass a bit and focus on setting up AD.

we can keep walker at 120% of his current salary, over the cap. same with any 1-year contract with no bird or early bird rights. people remember monk, but he was signed on vet min, so his raise was nothing compared to open market possibilities. lonnie's standard raise will be very close to what the market will offer him, imo. maybe exceeds it, tbh.

the following year, if he blows up, we have early bird rights, which is 175% OR 105% of the league average, whichever is larger. so if we signed lonnie over the cap to the roughly 8 per, we could turn around and sign him to a deal starting at 14 per the following year. this is why i keep suggesting that guys *might* consider taking deals below market value with us that gave us early bird rights. we've shown in the past (kcp) that we'll make good on our end of the deal there.

it's not for everyone, obviously, but for some, it's a gamble worth taking.

I'm honestly not afraid of either team, as currently constructed, with a healthy AD.

It cuts both ways, we have some advantages that the other guys don't too. All of your matchups, don't have to be favorable to you, in order to win a series.

Weird as it is, we seem to find a way to adjust to the opponents, and stay competitive right now. It technically shouldn't be the case, looking at it on paper.

Agh..I get it, Malik was a vet minimum like Dennis not Lonnie. So the best that we can do with Dennis is a 20% raise or MLE?

I hope they're having that conversation with him now and seeing which way it could go.

Because if it's me I'm moving one of Lonnie or Bev for another piece.

We can also do Lonnie + Damien Jones for Alec Burks - which is a real interesting option. It keeps Bev for his 3&D at the SG spot.

    Schroeder (20) / Russ (28)
    Bev (20) / Reaves (24) / Schroeder (4)
    Rui (28) / Burks (20)
    Lebron (34) / Gabriel (14)
    AD (34) / Bryant (14)

We have some flexibility for the first time in a while it feels like.

I think Gabriel loses space with AD and TB. He may play in specific matchups, but I think he's a bit redundant at the 4 if AD is the 5 and we probably pair TB with either LeBron (it's working now) or Rui

Wenyan might even wind up being an attractive trade piece for some team’s specific needs if we feel we now have a logjam, same as Lonnie might be attractive. Nice upside both players. Would like to keep him though.

I think Gabriel and Bryant will split minutes depending on who is playing better. And I'm fine with that.

Just as I'm fine with Schroeder/Russ/Bev/Reaves splitting the 96 guard mins depending on who's hot.

    Same with Rui and Burks.

Only Lebron and AD are locked in to start and finish and play big minutes. Rest got to earn it. We got the camaraderie to make that happen this season.

I hope Rui comes in and plays well. But these are the Lakers fans he will be dealing with. He can go from potential starter, to a bum in a space of 5 games around here.

Wenyen doesn't make enough money to be attractive trade bait tbh. I wouldn't count him or Lonnie out of the rotations just yet either. Guys will need to earn thier minutes, this group is starting to jell some without Anthony. It's not a given that guys putting up numbers on bad teams, are going to automatically come in, and be better than what we have. I like this Rui kid's possibilities but gotta see him on the court for a few games.

These big swings like Rozier, Trent Jr or Bogdanovic most likely won't be getting the same shot attempts or minutes here.

Once again, you don't need to move Walker to get Bogdanovic and I don't think we should. Beverly Jones and JTA suffice salary wise. And those are exactly the guys on the roster that should be moved now. Jones hasn't fit. Beverly sucks and is taking time away from Reaves and Walker when they return. And JTA is now the odd man out in the forward rotation with Rui here. It's just a question of whether Detroit would accept any protections on our first.

I think the only reason Detroit would do that deal is for the 1st. An unprotected first is the only thing of real value of what you listed. Jones and JTA have none, Bev maybe has a tiny bit, as an expiring? But yeah, other teams may get away with a protected first for him, but probably because they’re offering better players along with it. I don’t want to say that those players are trash, but in the context of a trade, that’s literally asking someone to take your garbage, I don’t know how else to put it.

Hahaha, no doubt Weezy. Well said! Yes our first is going to be the only thing of value. But it was always going to be that way.

I meant to but forgot to add, that I could see Walker being included if they are trying to put any protections on the pick. He’s had a really good year, he’s one of the few pieces we have that may have any value.

I think you are maybe confusing Bojan with Bogdan (Hawks)? Bojan is a respectable defender. against players his size anyway. Most quick guards can get the one-up on him of course but he is a good off-ball defender and a decent-sized body inside. Believe me, I'm not saying he's Jimmy Butler but he's not bad, particularly off-ball, lord knows he's never been on the delivering end of a block. Not one of his attributes like his inability to dish too. He can handle larger wings serviceably though. I don't think it's a selling point really, most people view him as a sharpshooter but there has to be something that separates him from a 6'1" sharpshooter to be worth all that paper.

i think you have it backwards, alcindor. bogdan is the one who's been a respectable defender (until this year for whatever reason). bojan's been uniformly bad for basically his entire career.

he gets paid because he can shoot quickly and with little space from anywhere, and he can score in isolation if you try to match up small with him to negate the long range shooting (rip, duncan robinson). that's definitely worth something. but his defense is a big minus.

This team is so moronic for punting on trading these picks. This guy just dropped a 50 bomb and we have AD returning.

Trade the f***ing picks and improve this roster.
