Bev + 2nd for Josh Richardson would be a good pickup if we can't get an elite guy.

He's a very solid shooter, and I've seen him get hot in the playoffs.

I remember that too. I'm not saying he is the perfect player. If he was perfect, why would Charlotte want to trade him? He could of just had butterflies or a bad series. Charlotte don't go to the playoffs that often. That series sticks in a lot of our heads, because we other than that, nobody hears much about the Hornets.

    Love this Rui trade.
Rob and whomever else was involved with this get respect for getting this one done.
Still don’t like Russ- he’s not dependable in close game situations, is still a bad fit with LeBron, is still a poor shooter, an even worse person with the media and the worst off ball defender that has ever existed.

Yea. If this isn't true - that the FO would actually sign RW again - then I've learned nothing and someone's been slippin' me crazy pills in my coffee.

Props to Russ for accepting the 6th man thing. And he's been a lot less terrible than he was as a starter. Imagine evaluating a guy based on this, coupled with the fact he's taking up $47 mil this year. Jay-zus!

True, AD hasn't quite shown he can be our David Robinson just yet.

We don’t have to include Walker and personally I don’t want to. You could trade Beverly, Jones and JTA instead.

Richardson, at this point does make the most sense. Not a huge fan of his, but it the reports are true and they only want a 2nd for him; you probably aren't likely getting a better deal than that.

Rather not trade Walker, and you wouldn't have to in order to take on Richardson's 12 million (Bev is 13). I would send TSA their way to just to open up a roster spot for a possible buyout pickup.

Richardson is close to a 2 per game volume shooter from 3 and is around 37% this season on 1.9 makes per game, after hitting 40-42% in limited minutes each of the last two seasons. One would think he would get more looks with AD and LBJ.

Not a good defensive player by any means, but he has been decent in the past and at 6'5 would be more length than most of the guards we currently have...

    Walker: 38%/2.1
    Richardson: 37%/1.9
James: 29%/1.9 (he has to get that number back up to his norm when AD comes back)
    Reaves: 36%/1.3
    Schroder: 36%/1.2
    Brown: 35%/1.2

and Hachimura (1.0/34% but was 1.3/45 last season)...and we know Bryant can hit from out there....will AD come back with his range??

Not ideal, but might be enough.....as long as Westbrook stops shooting them and James improves...

I'd pull the trigger tomorrow if that was indeed the asking price...

Man the Russ hate is real. Everyone is holding last year against him like he was our only problem and blaming him for falling from contender to play in.

I hope he gets a 3/60 deal with the last year not guaranteed.

If we are operating above the tax line, we should try to get Bogdanovic. We can then retry to sign Bryant and/or Schroeder to the MLE.

    Schroeder / Russ
    Reaves / Christie
    Bogdanovic / Rui
    Lebron / Gabriel
    AD / Bryant

Is a deep squad. If we go all in, maybe try to get OG for two firsts instead.

I don't see us playing that big with Ham. That goes against his model. He likes the perimeter guys to constantly attack the basket, that's not Bogdan or Rui's game.
With Rui's trade, I think Bogdanovic opportunity is gone. I'm glad actually.

I'm afraid Rui may eat up Troy's minutes actually, instead of the guards'. Nunn's minutes go to Reaves and Lonnie. But at least it's one less guard and one more wing in our depth chart

I think moving forward we run like this:

    Dennis - Russ
    Bev - Lonnie/Max
    Reaves - Troy/JTA
    LeBron - Rui/Gabriel
    AD - Bryant/Jones

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't make more moves. And I can see Russ continuing past this year. Although I'm not sure if he would actually want to AND if LeBron wants it too. Clearly LeBron has less power in our decisions but he's still heard for sure and I think he's done with Russ for a while.
It would actually be good if we sold this in the media so teams like the Hornets or others wanting to save some future money would panic near the deadline and pull a deal without picks.
Although I can see our FO believing the angle expressed in this board - on Russ' effect with the bench crew as something hard to replace until the end of the year. There's a case for sure that this team "as is" can give a hard time to anyone in a playoff series, if we get there

It’s not hate to want to use his salary to make this team deeper, I’ve been wanting to do that since the off-season, little has changed, only that his value should be higher now. It’s not hate to think that his game doesn’t really work in the playoffs, because my eyes have seen it be the case. He also can’t really be relied upon to close in multiple situations, he still isn’t a good shooter or three point shooter. You can say ok, well, we can just sit him, we can play him situationally, you shouldn’t have to do that with a 47 million dollar player. I don’t think he’s going anywhere, and that’s fine, I think we’ll regret it, but whatever. But I’m tired of seeing legit concerns and criticisms labeled as hate, that’s the easiest way to act like you have some moral high ground in an argument and make it seem like you’re correct because you love the guy or something and some of us don’t so clearly we just want to see him fail. I’d love nothing more than for Russ to succeed here and for us to win a title with him and for him to rub it in everyone’s faces, Russ’ success means the teams success. I just don’t see this happening, so I’d prefer to try to get future pieces we won’t be able to with cap space IF the opportunity presents itself. Oh man what crazy hate, poor persecuted Russ.

It’s not “hate” man. It’s actually how he is- I only pointed out what I actually see take place. I have no agenda to make anything up.
I love his assists and how he looks to get others involved.
I would just prefer it if the FO used the money on other players.

Maybe he won't right off the bat, but why wouldn't Hachimura start?

    Schroeder/Russ/ Bev
    Walker/Reaves/Christie
    LeBron/Brown Jr.
    Hachimura/Gabriel/JTA
    AD/Bryant

Hachimura starting makes the most sense to me, I'd rather have him guard the best opposing wing than Bev or Lonnie doing it. It might be unrealistic to expect Bev to go from starting to 3rd string but this Hachimura trade makes it much easier to field more "normal" lineups.

She may not but I can see us trying to bring Russ back depending on our salary cap situation. I don’t know that he’d want to come back at a price we can afford but I think that will be explored. I prefer a trade even if it means trying to incorporate multiple players.
