LJ you’re a smart poster. Surely you understand right now all the media reports are teams posturing with their mouth pieces to gain leverage.

A Turner for OG swap makes sense for the Raptors, but I think Indiana ask for more in return since they’ll be down a Center. So what’s more valuable 2 firsts and a swap or Turner?

I think what the Raptors need to do is to get a star around Barnes and Siakam - preferably a guard. Then they just need a passable defensive Center because they’ll end up playing small a lot with all their large wings.

Nunn, sure, but 2 seconds? Maybe 1 second. I don't know, we have done some great things with second-round picks, The Eagle, Reaves and now Max C, THT and (believe it or not, Pat Bev was a 2nd for us. We do as well with 2nds as we do with FRPs. I don't care if NYK gave up a FRP for Cam, too bad, everyone makes bad decisions and it is their loss. It doesn't help his value when your coach DNPs him for 1 1/2 months for a 6'4" guy on a minimum deal. Nunn and 1 second or just Nunn. You know, Nunn will return to form one day and we'll wish we still had him.

Yeah. Again I don’t know what kind of player guys expect for second round picks.

We’ve been interested for awhile. That’s not a bad move especially with us sitting on multiple second rounders we can trade. We can always buy back in to the second round or swing something with a guy that goes undrafted.

I would love that, but if they are asking for three, I bet their basement is two unprotected firsts.

We have a “star” guard that would fit perfectly for them. His name is Westbrick!!! Do it Rob!!!

I’m all in for taking a flyer on Reddish. Our track record with developing young players is more than good. For one or two second rounders? Why not? It’ll be our de facto 1st round draft pick for 2023. It’s do or die for his career so we’ll get his best basketball. Low risk, high reward.

T'hanks svtzr, right back to you. Yes it's posturing time for sure, but I still believe we don't have enough to get OG unfortunately and he's not currently being shopped unless maybe for Turner if they think they can sign him long term. Not sure what they will ultimately do but all signs are pointing to them being buyers at this juncture except for Van Fleet.

I believe we have 7 2nd rounders we can use right now. 2 2nds and Nunn is fine by me for Reddish. I'm very down on Nunn at this point.

I always ask myself the question, what does a trade let us do differently? Or what level does it unlock.

Bog opens up spacing on the floor for Lebron and AD to operate. But as other posters have mentioned we aren’t struggling to score even with not much spacing. We’ve made it happen by having multiple players who can drive at the basket and collapse the defense. Bog would also help finish those plays on kick outs and I agree with you that he is a nice piece. I’d be happy to get him. But he isn’t moving the needle defensively.

Let’s take OG as an example and what he unlocks defensively for us.

Clippers: OG guards PG, AD guards Kawhi, Reaves guards Norm, Schroeder takes Reggie and we have Lebron front Zubac.

Phoenix: OG on Booker, Schroeder on CP3, AD on Ayton, Reaves on Bridges.

Denver: OG on Porter Jr/AG, Schroeder on Murray, Reaves on KCP and AD on Jokic.

GSW: OG on Wiggins, Schroeder on Curry, Reaves on Klay, AD on Green.

We match up well enough against anyone there and have Lebron kind of resting. Now replace those OG covers with Bogdanovic and it means we have to shift things around. Now imagine those defensive assignments with Bev.

We have a first round pick in the NO swap for next season. And we'll have two 2nds. So theoretically in the offseason we could trade the rights to the person we select in the first round (select for the other team) and 2 firsts to get something. But I don't really want Derozan or Beal or Lavine.

Great points svtzr and I agree with you that OG would be a dream pickup. I just don't see that he's on the table for us at all. In lieu of that I'd like to do the Bogdanovich trade for one first. I think if we pull the trigger on the Cam trade as well he can help defensively at the wing. And if he doesn't we've still got Troy Brown who I like for the bench.

    I’ve actually considered this.

Maybe we could get Toronto to bite on that but I’m not sure I’d pass on a trade now unless there were strong assurances that the Raptors were on board.

LOL .... another bad take. ;) No one has seen me propose a single trade since it's not my thing. I don't watch other teams. I watch the Lakers through good times and bad times and focus on how I think our players look. I do give "likes" to how some of the trades sound or sound like they should be avoided per what other people say that I respect for their knowledge here, that DO watch other teams.

I agree about losing Russ at this point now that he's found his groove with that huge bench boost he provides as well as he has been playing like a star in keeping us in games with one of either LeBron or AD out, even both of them for that one game against a good team we won without both of them. Schroder or any other PG off the bench is not going to give us that. No way.

Sure, you do even if it's by default.

This is true, technically we have a 3rd FRP and one that can be used in the upcoming draft as rookies can be traded at any time. But any deal using it would have to be in June. We obviously can't use it now. This may also be a reason the FO is holding out on deals, having 2 future FRPs and one that can be used in the current draft is powerful, gives that GM something now to use and later when we are likely not to be so good.

Another problem with this upcoming pick is we will have no money to attach to it. And sign and trades with the hard cap is not a great option.

Ehh, advanced stats still have him as a net neutral at best player. He's better than last season for sure, but he's still not good especially at $47 million. I'd trade him in a second if it meant we get back legitimate starting caliber players. If we traded him for Hield/Turner, for example, we could start Reaves/Hield/LeBron/AD/Turner and bring Lonnie, Schroeder and Brown off the bench. That's way better than what we have now.

Depends what we get back for him and if it also costs FRP's but talking about those 2 guys yeah in hindsight it would have been nice, IF it ever was "available" as tossed around by the media speculating it was for just him and the 2 picks. Per the reasons @abeer3 has stated which put even that in doubt.
