I have no idea why we hate wings so much either, just go out and pick up some habanero mango wings...mmmmmmm and then see how you feel about them

Well Rob hasn't said anything about it and Ham has demonstrably shown that we're running a casting call for the next Hobbit movie.

I do think we’re actively looking for something and some of the rumors we’re hearing supports that.

Unfortunately I think our lack of action is more about not being able to get everyone on the same page than the front office being patient.

Trade deadline rapidly approaches so we will see.

Hopefully Shams knows better than Dan

Not the best that we don't know who we like better or when to add them though.

I'd rather have a wing than a big, but a big over an empty roster spot.

what makes you think that? just the stuff about the indy trade prior to the season?

i really think it's about there not being sellers, or the sellers being pretty greedy.

i'm still focused on the long-term. we're 5 games under .500 at the midway point.

    lol awesome. #aspirations

Not just the various proposals but just how the front office seems to operate.

I do agree that we need to make moves that help us now and moving forward.

Any move Lakers make should be with post Lebron/AD rebuild in mind. This duo's title chances together with the Lakers are done IMO. And Lebron has put up crazy minutes already, he can't afford to push himself at this level for the rest of the year.

This front office is such a pathetic failure. In the words of Kobe “Do something! And do it now!”

Yeah it’s a Mom and Pop operation and can no longer compete with the rest of the league. Jeff Bezos is the only answer and if Leo DiCaprio is a true fan he would convince his friend to buy the Lakers.

the only way to accelerate the trade timeline is to dramatically overpay. not sure why this has become hard to grasp. it would be different if a bunch of deals were happening right now, and we were sitting out. nothing has happened. because the sellers are asking too much. "it's going to take a lot to get alec burks from us!" shut up. this is why no trades are happening until february.

Exactly. As much as I would love the Lakers to make a trade that improves the team, if there are none available (which seems to be the case), I'd rather they didn't do anything than do "some" bad trade just for the sake of it. Doing nothing doesn't equal "giving up" on competing or "not caring" etc.

The front office's hard stance on this, even with all the pressure, including from "friendly" media, actually makes me more optimistic about them going forward. I guess we'll see how things turn out, but if they make a really good trade (or more than one) near the trade deadline, I'm good with that outcome and am willing to wait.

BTW, since when is it necessary to pay extra for "getting rid of" huge expirings? They used to be pretty valuable back in the day.

completely agree, especially on the latter.

it's not. unless it dramatically increases the incoming team's payroll/tax bill for the current year i guess.

expirings aren't quite as valuable as they used to be since big FA movement has proven to be pretty limited, imo.

and really, their value historically was in getting guys who were currently overpaid but useful, particularly on teams that had big salary and were bad. right now, the salary distribution in the league is pretty strongly correlated with success, so there's just not as many teams that really need to get out from under money. this is why the bridges off-court stuff hurt us this summer, imo. charlotte was going to be in a place where they needed to get off salary had they signed him. but now they're really not. that's just one example, but in general, what's detroit going to do with a bunch of extra cap space? the FA market is slim, and det isn't a place people want to play? why collect cap space? to rent it out for further picks? possibly, but i'm still betting they take on salary to get better picks rather than salary dump burks and bojan for less draft compensation.
