Not straight up. If we could dump Jones in the process, then that adds additional value. There are other factors involved to such as what else we give up, the protection of the pick, and what else we get back.

    -Beverly/Nunn/Jones/2027 1st (top 4 protected) for Hield/2027 2nd round pick

    -Beverly/Nunn/Jones/JTA/2027 1st (top 4 protected)/2023 2nd (Bulls) for Rozier and Washington

    -Beverly/Nunn/Jones/2027 1st (top 4 protected) for Barnes/ 2027 2nd round pick

    I could see us making a play for LaVine after the 15th. Westbrook/Reaves/Jones/2027 1st (unprotected)/2023 2nd (Bulls)/2025 2nd for LaVine/White/Green.

great point. and i actually think that's paradoxically good news for us. nobody tries to stir up drama around the clippers (who have lost 5 straight) because nobody cares at all, which is a huge condemnation of what they're trying to do.

lol, maybe he's a fixer that keeps them out of the press?

before the season when we were discussing turner, another poster pointed out the bryant/turner similarities, and they were right. turner's obviously better, but they're not different to the tune of their contract/trade value. i worry as much about bryant's health as one would about AD or turner, though, so it's also a factor in everything.

anyway, i'm still pretty much at peace with our non-movement at this point. talk to me in a month.

We’ll probably flip Beverley and a 2nd for Terrence Ross or something.

unpopular take, but if bev is going to shoot closer to career average from three, that trade's a loss for us. ross plays smaller than he is and doesn't solve any problems for us.

again unpopular, but i'm with rob & co. that the only thing i'm shopping for is an obvious upgrade. i'll take on salary or give a pick for it, but i'm not seeing anything realistic yet.

I agree. It might be the best possible scenario. We get a guard and a forward, both could shoot, both are relatively young, and both will be on reasonable, tradeable contracts. We would hold Washington's bird rights after the season. He doesn't project to be super expensive, like a Kuzma for example. Washington has put up decent numbers on a bad team, and he doesn't look like he has a ton of upside, but he could improve a little at only 24 -years old. The best part about his game though, is he is a true forward, and he knocks down those open threes. He could even play some 5. His range is probably 15-18 million per year. In contrast, Kuzma is likely to get 20-25. In theory, Rozier and Washington could supplant Shroder and Bryant if we are unable to keep them next year, since we don't hold their bird rights.

Yeah but Schroder and Bryant are both on minimum contracts now, and won't be asking for as much money as Rozier and Washington will get next season and beyond either.

We are 5th in the League in scoring, and will have AD, Walker and Reaves back in a few weeks. Yet there is still this strong desire to add more " shooters "?

I'd throw a 2nd rd pick attached to Nunn for PJ Washington straight up.

Good point. But, the only ways that we could sign them are with cap space or an exception. If we have cap room, I don't think the FO would want to use it on those guys. I'm not in favor of that either. I wonder how much money they would want? As well as Dennis has been playing, I don't feel comfortable giving him a big chunk of money. I feel more confident in giving 25 million to Rozier, if you will. Then you have Bryant vs. Washington. PJ is more proven, and has a cleaner three-point shot. But Bryant has strong intangibles in the passion and tenacity in which he plays, along with a rare skillset. I guess part of it depends on where they rather have AD play. I would still make the move. I wouldn't count on Dennis and Thomas resigning for cheap.

I don't think Dennis will ask for as much as Rozier. Bryant is a better player than Washington and has more upside IMO. We could sign both of these guys to more of a team friendly deal then what Rozier and Washington will make. Washington is already at 6 million, he's going to want a pay raise or he walks. I prefer standing pat and taking care of the two we have, nobody wanted either one of those guys and both have some history here.

I think out of all of those aforementioned players, Rozier is the best fit. Actually Rozier/Bryant would be the best combination. It's great that Dennis has improved his three-point shooting as of late, but I don't know if it is sustainable. I rather have Rozier, who the more sure-thing as a shooter. Shroder's ability to score at the rim and in the mid-range are great, but the main thing that we are looking for i(with this group) is three-point shooting. I don't know about standing pat.

Our FO isn’t going to make any trade, unless it involves a “star.”

We might be looking at a LaVine trade then. I much rather have him than Beal. He has questionable knees, but his game is not all athleticism. He has quietly become one of the more elite three-point shooters in the league. What would it take to get him? I imagine something like this:

Lakers get: LaVine, White, and Green.

Bulls get: Westbrook, Reaves, Jones, 2027 1st (unprotected), 2029 1st (unprotected), and 2023 2nd (Bulls).

I don't look at is as Lakers getting a third star. I look at is as the Lakers getting the ideal complementary player to Lebron and AD. At 27, I also look at LaVine as a player who could take over when Lebron unwinds his career. Coby White isn't great, but is still only 22 years old, and he has shot at least 35% from three in each of his three seasons. We would hold his bird rights, so we wouldn't have to worry about signing him with cap room. White could be a decent role player, and a solid tradable salary. He could also take over at the one, if the Lakers are unable to retain Shroder. Lakers would still have Nunn's bird-rights too. Green is salary/roster spot throw in.

no way the Bulls are taking just two FRPs for their best player.

IDK .. Terry is shooting 40% from the field and 31% from 3 this season. He shot 23% from 3 the last time he was in the playoffs. It's not a slam dunk. He looked good against us but a lot of guards do, we are 27th in defense. He just went 2-9 from 3 today against the Pacers 5-15 overall .

I'd probably do the third option, if he resigned for 18m for a few years.

Harrison's 3 point shot has fallen off too, but he is 6'8.

I think we should set our sights on an under 20 million dollar player, using Bev and Nunn as the trade bait.

Hes having a bad year shooting wise, but you have to look within the context of which he has been playing. He played many games without LeMelo and Bridges, which kind of messed him up. He was the focal point and constantly had hands in his face, not much in terms of open shots compared to what he is used to. Yeah, he lit us up, but I have been talking about trading for Rozier long before that. And, so have the Lakers. They already tried to trade for him once, and I have seen him linked to the Lakers at other times too.
