I’m fine with this as well, but I’m not down for bringing Russ back.

I’m out on the DD plan as well. He’s just not a great fit with LeGM and AD. I would rather take back Caruso and Ball- and I’m not that high on Lonzo because of injury history.

Lonzo is a great role player in the mold of Caruso and Reaves. I feel for him injury wise. If he was healthy I’d take him back instantly.

Because a fit Lonzo is a great defender, playmaker and shooter. He reminds me of a modern guard version of AK-47.

Turner is probably the best available fit and player for us. Bev + Nunn + a first is the only trade I do though.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought I heard the cost to take Russ was a 1st in return, and then any good player back would cost our other first. By that arithmetic, I’d love to get Turner for Nunn bevs and a first.

    100% this

I don’t see a trade that gets us in a better position for now or the future if we’re giving up two unprotected 1st in addition to Russ. Therefore you keep him and make other trades. You’d be giving up an actual contributor (if an imperfect one) and giving up picks for that luxury? Nah. Keep him unless a deal comes along where we actually win long term.

Im also dubious if we can really get anything good for Nunn+Beverly+one 1st but I’d be happier with that in theory. I’m not seeing any hint of the Wimbeanyana tank/fire sales, we hoped for so far.

We can negotiate a good deal. Whether it involves picks or not just depends on the players involved.

    build around AD.

I think we can get a very good player for them. Bev and Nunn are just salary, the prize is the pick. I don’t see it getting us a great player locked into a 3/4 year deal, but a player with 1 or 2 years left the team feels they may lose for nothing or doesn’t fit what they are doing right now, they may want to get a pick for them rather than lose them for nothing, and Bev and Nunn are expiring contracts. As far as Russ, yeah, I still want to move him for depth and to add players under contract beyond this season, I see no real value in this upcoming free agency for our cap space, but no we don’t have to be desperate now. If we are winning we can let it play out quite a while.

Was wondering today not because I would want to because I like him if Brown might be an enticing add on in some deal so picks don’t get involved. He’s worth more than the money he’s making.

no, because we have no rights to him. another downside of the vet min roster. the fact that anyone dealing with us isn't really interested in winning means that a guy like brown, who is overperforming his contract, doesn't factor into things.

...unless you move him to a third team (that is trying to win and could use cheap talent for a few months) to get a 2nd rounder to up your end of a deal...

Hmmm, some of these guys, I just don't pay attention to that closely so maybe I missed it, it had a LOL in it and when I read it, I just read it and thought it was meant without malice. If I ever called you a chode, it would be a joke because I respect you enough to not be rude to you. I would call my best BS buddy a chode if he was acting like a d******. He would do the same to me. I respect most people on this site, the ones I don't I just block and I rarely see anything they post. But, I disagree with people at times and might rib them here and there but I would not have malice. If I have malice, they are already ignored and blocked.

I am probably wrong on this one, what do I know, I'm a chode!

    Short and stout
    May hang about
And be pleasing to the ladies
    But long and thin
    Goes further in
    And produces better babies

I feel like we say we have a good expiring contract that’s attractive for a trade and a trade for a contributing player never happens.

Don’t know if we’re over estimating how often those trades happen, or if execs are levying the “Lakers tax” where they’d rather sell their first born than give us another Pau level piece, so our FO stands pat instead of getting fleeced.

I don’t think so. Levar or Slick can message me and I’d be happy to change it if it was indeed a joke.

You know better than me. In fact, I have both of those two guys blocked already. This is one of the problems with this forum, when you block people but others are replying to them, you see the statements made out of context and you tend to make assumptions but it is difficult to catch the details. I thought he was responding to Sirron or Abeer or someone like that. Figured that was a joke but now that I realize he was responding to one of these other guys, I am starting to get it.

Personally I feel like it’s part Lakers tax, other teams do it all the time, even bad teams. The other part I feel is that Rob lacks creativity. I don’t believe he’s made a single in-season trade since he’s been here, all off-season trades only. You have to take chances, you have to get creative. He may be, I may be wrong, but I can only go off of what he’s shown so far, and so far we’ve heard him say this team isn’t done, we’ve heard reports of always being pushed back timelines, but we still haven’t seen an in-season move. Here’s hoping we do very soon.

another factor is that in-season trades rarely swing a team's fortunes that year very much, and we're living in a year-to-year upheaval in lakerland these days. the clippers getting norman powell wasn't going to win them a ring last year; it was helping further set them up going forward.

i do think there's a laker tax, too, and we have a harder time getting value. but other teams definitely do get useful players for expirings. not pau gasol-level, but powell, covington, jerami grant even. i don't think we don't get it because we don't want it, though.

Take from it what you will, but Bucher has a new article on teams who might be looking to deal

    On Russ
    On Pat Bev
    On the Knicks
On Heat and Bulls -- stars are untouchable
    On the Mavs
    On the Wiz
    On the Hawks
    On the Jazz
    https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nba/nba-front-office-confidential-lakers-knicks-timberwolves-hawks

Came up with a 3 team idea with the Knicks and Pacers.

Knicks trade: Rose, Cam, Fournier, '23 1st from Dallas
Knicks get: Russ, '23 2nd from Lakers

    Pacers trade: Turner
Pacers get: Pat Bev, Nunn, '27 1st, and '23 1st from Knicks (Mavs)

Lakers trade: Russ, Rat Bev, Nunn, '27 1st, '23 2nd
Lakers get: Turner, Cam, Fournier, Rose

Why: Knicks get a name for a few months and get off a couple of their deals that extend past this season. Pacers get two 1st for Turner before he leaves them this summer. We get wing depth, a replacement ball handler for the 2nd unit, shooting, and best of all...Turner while only coming off one of our 1sts.

    Turner/Bryant
    AD/Cam/Gabriel
    Bron/AR/Brown
    Walker/Fournier
    DS/Rose

That's a deep team. I like the wing versatility with Cam, AR, Brown, Walker, and Fournier. Much better size than our lineup with 4 point guards. Bench has enough size where you can go "small" with one of them at backup PF.
