i'd replace morant and edwards with SGA and haliburton

SGA's numbers have been MVP-like so far

Well, yeah, but smaller sample size. Haliburton is excellent. I would love to get him. Low key, kind of Chris Paul (without the douchiness) vibes.

Ok so we are now officially at the 20 game mark. 8 and 12 is definitely much better than I had hoped for after going 2 and 10 to start the year. As many have mentioned the West is wide open. Currently we are only 6.5 games out of first place with 62 games left in the season. We have time to do this but we need to make some moves. Obviously sooner is better.

Surround AD and Lebron with a complete and competent roster and with any health luck we can contend. What we’ve seen is that Reaves and Walker are really good players. Schroder, Bryant and Brown are capable backups. But we need some legit starting level guys to fill this out. Move Russ, Nunn, Pat Bev and Jones for some real players and we are talking.

Nunn and Pat Bev are depth? No thanks. Would love to have Turner instead. That’s a legit center to play as a starter with AD.

Schrodinger and Reeves will take all of their minutes and the Lakers will be better off for it.

Even Max Christie just because he's bigger and faster is worthy of more minutes than those two

We have PG depth, Schröder and Russ are the PGs. Moving those other guys just opens more time for players to play in their correct positions and no more 4 small guard lineups. Reaves and Walker will play the other guard minutes, Brown, JTA and Christie can play the 3. Anyway, here’s hoping Dec 15 is here before we know it

If waiving Matt was for the December 15th deadline, why not waive him on the 14th?

Russ still has his flaws, but overall he brings positive production and energy. Beverley and Nunn do not.

Ideally I would try to package Bev, Nunn, and a pick for Turner (or a player of that caliber, a starter who gives us some much needed center or wing depth). As soon as possible.

And then hang on to Russ until closer to the deadline, see what offers start to emerge. Don’t necessarily feel pressured to move him just for the sake of moving him if other teams are still trying to gouge us.

If anything, I think moving completely useless players like Bev and Nunn for a useful starter that helps us maintain our momentum and climb into the playoff hunt, would give us significantly more leverage in Russ negotiations.

Myles Turner is the guy folks. A lot is made about wing depth and size, and the chase for that " shooter ", but Turner fits like a glove next to AD IMO. Some nights he will be a better look against certain 5's and on others, he's a defensive terror against opposing PF. Same with Anthony but almost as importantly, he can augment Anthony's midrange game by being a legit perimeter threat from the top of key. AD, Turner, Bryant and Gabriel, can easily be the best bigman 2 deep in the League.

We can find something later on with shooting on the buyout market.

How in the world can you waive the man who saved us from the Pelican massacre on November 2nd and helped give us that 2-win streak? Matt (Ice) Ryan gave the Lakers their balls back. It doesn't even matter that he can't do a single thing besides shoot a 3.

i'd gladly take turner, but as i said in the game chat, i have legitimate concerns about 90% of our salary cap being devoted to the frontcourt. ideally, we get a potent perimeter scorer to go with lebron and AD, and the rest of the roster are rangy defenders. we're obviously a long way from that, though.

Agreed. We rebounded well from our bad start and have caught some luck with no team dominating the West. Definitely still time to make some moves that firmly put us in the playoff mix but that window will close.

Addition by subtraction. That's the kind of depth you find at the Walmart $5 DVD bin.

There are better FAs available than those two.

yeah, we'll be able to pick up guys as useful off the scrap heap. hell, christie can probably do about as well as either right now.

i'm actually a bit concerned about the mental impact of cutting ryan right now, though. it sends a clear message that trades are definitely coming, right? and russ, bev, and nunn have to know they're the ones on the block. recipe for some quitting.

Definitely has the guys checking their phones and refreshing twitter. Every year we hear about the sigh of relief from guys on the block when the deadline passes and they're still here. So, it absolutely factors in the play of those who aren't necessarily mentally strong. I think it impacts Nunn the most because his confidence is still shook from his injury and he's in his head about how much he sucks now.

Good thing about quitting is you can't quit something you haven't started. One could argue what two of those are doing on the basketball court doss not constitute playing basketball.

if they start playing like they are quitting, then don’t play them anymore.

yeah, i meant more in terms of morale in general. everybody knows that the team may look different in a month; it doesn't foster togetherness.

i mean, i know everyone deals with this, but my point is that cutting a guy explicitly for the roster spot to use in trades is sort of on the nose.
