I agree that Turner's improved play this season doesn't really change his price in a trade, he's still an expiring that everyone knows Indiana doesn't really want to sign long-term. Him playing better in a contract year (as most guys do) was always baked in. I've wanted to move the two firsts for him and Hield all summer and still want to now.

turner's from near dallas (my niece went to hs with him and says he's nice), and i'm sure dallas would offer wood for turner. if indy fears turner's going to bolt in FA, wood is a more controllable--if less exciting--asset. he can bolt in FA, too, but he won't have multiple teams throwing 25 per at him.

League seems to think Chicago may want to blow it up: lavine's knee and contract are scary but Derozan, Vucecic, Caruso for Westbrook/Bevs works.
Bulls save money gets a 1st rounder for their trouble.

Lakers get a PnR guy to work with Lebron
Vucecic is a good offensive center who AD can cover his weaknesses
    Caruso is Caruso

Russ still frustrates at wrong/worst times but he's no longer addition by subtraction in this contract / career year off the bench.

Don't think he is a net negative, IMO even though may cost a game or couple being boneheaded. On the flip side he still has enough to help carry a team when one of the big 2 is out, and with his availability, if he's playing well. Seems more often than not?

The real blockbuster would be taking LaVine's awful contract but for that to happen Chicago should give up picks to the Lakers!

yeah....that's a tough situation. i feel like i was on record that i would rather have traded lavine than be the team that signed him to a max deal. he's just not a max player. and those are bad deals to have.

i think i pass on bailing them out of that. i'm all in on taking derozan and vucevic so that they can construct the team around lavine that theoretically works.

I agree: from the Bulls perspective it is going to be really tough to get out of LaVine's contract (15% trade kicker: jesus) while at the same those other guys still there means they can't properly tank either. I think this is a good trade for both teams. Bulls don't get out of LaVine's contract but they add picks, save money, and can properly tank for 1- 2 years which by then Lavine's contract will still be bad but not as awful.

only catch with a bulls trade is their pick is only 1-4 protected this year, so if they commit to the tank, they better be REALLY bad and still run a substantial risk of giving up the 5th or 6th overall pick.

yeah, i'll just repeat that nobody ever set a deadline except the fans and media. you can't gaslight yourself. or can you?

also, gaslighting is being misused. if rob was gaslighting, he'd say something like: we have never tried to trade russell westbrook and are not interested in doing so. that would be gaslighting.

btw, this is from a piece about how dallas's roster isn't well-constructed:

they're specifically saying wood's the issue--not because he's bad but because dallas really doesn't have anyone besides doncic and dinwiddie who can reliably make aggressive defenders pay.

i think this probably also factored into the non-move for turner/hield as well as the interest in kyrie/beal. the latter guys will make teams pay for getting in your grill and taking away your top options. feel like in the playoffs, you can put smaller bulldogs on turner and hield and just erase them.

i'm still interested in picking up a guard capable of putting up 30 on any given night (like a rozier). if he came with a beefy center to throw at the jokics of the world (plumlee) and an athletic wing (oubre), i'm very interested.

That’s just looking at the box score. He is their second best player and is scoring 17/7 off the bench in 25 mins and learning how to play winning basketball. The only reason he isn’t starting is Dwight Powell and McGee are getting starting mins because of some promise.
