It wasn't. Rob literally delayed his day before media day presser in anticipation of the Indy deal bring complete. Rob spoke during the preseason that "we're not done" making moves, I don't think anyone thought he meant 18 weeks later, they would reasses his misfit roster.

These dates that keep getting changed also line up with what those in the organization are saying.

I don't get why people read any report and it's like it's a Lakers statement.
Have anyone from the Lakers said there was any deadline at all?

Myles Turner is balling this year. Him and AD together would potentially be the best C/PF combo in a long time - Bynum/Gasol, Wallace Bros, Vlade/Webber was the last 3 I could come up with

Why we’re likely now not getting him for 1 pick and matching expiring salary. He may be playing himself into an extension or more than we should offer for him.

If the original rumored Russ and 2 1sts for him and Hield …. sure would be enticing on the floor. I bet they may have and still do wanted/want more?

Now not only is his price higher, there's competition. Clipps and GS are both interested. Ship sailed. Oh yeah and Indy is the best team in the East this month.

We should be able to turn BevMo and Nunn & ? into a decent to good big after Dec 15 if Turner gets too expensive. But as I mentioned the price may have always been more than we’ve heard. There’s possibly advantages (??) to be had from all of our trade fodder …. a butt load :D …. after that date. Whoever comes in … no one’s coming in to run that bench team like Russ is. He’s a great weapon coming off the bench. Now the good outweighs the bad by a bit and trending upward. So we can afford to wait.

We f’ed up, trade should have been made before training camp, we’d be in the playoff picture right now, have a center going forward, and Buddy to either keep next year or flip for other pieces.

True all that. I leaned that way but not knowing for sure what was being asked, and a Lot of the peeps here coming down on the don’t do it side with good arguments re the 2 future pics when we will likely need them …. so I hope this doesn’t with all this hindsight now turn into typical pile on Pelinka. Turner’s injury history too, and all the arguments against Hield costing us a second pick or being worth it himself.

Wasn’t there one rumor Indiana wanted one of our young guys too?

I believe there was a rumor that they wanted THT and wanted us to take Daniel Theis. Right now I’d gladly do that, we’d have no Beverley. But, no, I don’t blame Rob for not doing that, it’s absolutely gouging us, I just wish he’d gotten something better for THT, or just kept him since Russ would be gone.

To be fair to Rob it sounded like he wanted to do the deal for Hield and Turner but the committee decided no. I think others in the org value the picks more than Rob.

I get their hesitation and I agree that two picks is an overpay. Then again with Lebron and AD we don’t have time to waste being indecisive either. I would get over the overpay with a much better roster/fit, a better record and a real shot at a championship. As mentioned by others we could still move Nunn and BevMo in another deal to get one more good player (hopefully a wing).

And you could still flip Nunn and Bevs for an additional piece.

This front office continues not to impress: their off-season moves were made for this Indiana trade to happen and they blinked. Lakers still have a good offer compared to teams like GS and Clips got nothing: make the move

Bevs for Richardson works and you get an insurance policy for JTO and Brown.

Basically you fix the teams biggest problem shooting while adding a top 5 player at his position and 2 additional wings who can bring in either offense or defense depending on the matchup.

have you seen those guys this year? They had to send Wiseman to the D league for heaven's sake. GS let go of guys like Payton and Porter hoping these young guys would take off and if anything they've regressed this year.

I honestly don’t think our Brilliant FO makes any significant trades this season. I don’t think they know how to(without getting fleeced).
I’m happy to be proven wrong.

i did, and it still makes sense. today we're dumb because turner has played well, but we didn't look dumb when he missed 5 out of the first 7 games of the season, and there's a long way to go still. i'm also quite concerned that he's careering it in a contract year.

we're the ones kicking the dates around. there's never been and never will be some sort of date upon which a button is pressed. well, there will be, and it's the day they see a deal that makes sense.

indy traded brogdon for expirings and one 1st, but wanted two firsts and us to take hield (he had negative value then, and may now, too, tbh) to get turner. and that's assuming they weren't asking for even more (still think they were).

utah, SA, and indy wouldn't offer us deals they offered others. not sure what you can do with that.

Careful, you're close to making too much sense.
