The thing that is frustrating is Caruso and Reaves outside of being white and unheralded out of college have very different games and would have been very complimentary. Caruso offensively is limited in the half court but will do the little things like set screens/roll/etc but is an athletic freak in the open court and on defense he's just a top notch Reaves is an offensive whiz with all sorts of tools in the 1/2 court and on defense does all the little things but sometimes outmatched physically Them at the 1-2 spots would have been amazing as their strengths would balance out the relative weaknesses of the other: sigh
I don't see why Bulls wouldn't mind getting off his money, if they determine what's the point of non competing for a ring this year and wanting to tank. Nunn's money and game would work, or toss in Jones with it if needed to match. Make it attractive. Such an inexpensive move that would yield in most of our opinions huge defensive and offensive results, paired with our stars. Already proven on THAT for both of them. Use Bev's 13M for something else, and Russ for something ELSE BIG. I nominate @abeer3 to pen a rough draft of why this simple move alone to bring Alex back would be super beneficial going forward. Post it here for edit by committee or approve as is, and send it to the Lakers web site where they will read comments. I did that back when Magic and Rob first took over and I saw that their camera equipment and camera work sucked for a team like the Lakers in their pressers and media day. For whatever reasons, the gear you see now and the results of these events are in a whole nuther zip code. Am serious about a letter from the most knowledgeable basketball peeps on LB sent to the Lakers. Don't most of us doubt they lack that common sense?
That was my opinion as well above because of the strength of Reaves’s overall offensive game and strengths overcoming any deficit on the defensive side and with athleticism comparisons.
i'm not at all sure that reaves is better than caruso, but the fact that it's a legitimate debate is great news for us. and yes, recent contract negotiations are troubling in that regard. we can't think we're going to keep unearthing that kind of impact where we have our picks.
Not greed. Makes perfect basketball sense. They both rate off the charts well plus minus with LeBron and probably with AD too given the chance. Terrific defense on the perimeter with AD and others waiting to swat behind. If only they would see this. Make these greatest bang for the buck, least expensive moves, bring AC back at his salary and sign up Reaves at his (?) MLE level posited by @abeer3 .... for hopefully 4 years with team or his option or whatever.
Rob Pelinka masterpiece. Completely botched his rookie contract and now they will be forced to pay up or match another team's offer to him.
we were over the cap and not able to offer more than two years. it's not like sam presti or <insert ringless gm superstar here> would have signed him to an 11-year vet min or something. we had two options: 1 or 2 year deal at vet min. we have his arenas rights, meaning he basically can't leave if we don't want him to. had rob dipped into the mini mle to sign an unproven 2nd rounder, his detractors would have crucified him for that. of course, there would be crickets when reaves performed like he has (see walker, lonnie), because we just like to whine and play monday morning quarterback. btw, get ready for the same group that bashed rob for signing lonnie to turn around and claim he's an idiot for not signing him for longer. tiresome.
So much truth in one post. People should get their profile flagged for having such takes. I saw already one post talking about "Rob should have signed Lonnie for more than 1 year" It's a pity there's so many trolls in between so many good posters around here. But well, that's internet
i don't think it's trolling. it's just constant negativity just to be negative. we've got plenty to be negative about, but reaves's contract situation ain't it. not every post has to be a scree about pelinka or AD or whatever.
