All those teams have been enjoying remarkable success. They combine for one playoff series win the past 5 years
Don’t look now but Austin early into his second year has shown enough of his superb B-ball IQ, passing, rebounding, growing offensive repertoire and improved defense with also improved size and strength …. that it’s a conversation I think that he has already caught and passed the Eagle in value in this league. Certainly no offense to Alex. Damn he is a joy to watch play the game. Has gone to school as well on the great footwork.
At the same stage of their development? Yeah. Right now? I'd still take Caruso. And the mandatory... we coulda had both.
I take Austin right now. He’s not giving up much to Alex on D and is considerably better in multi areas on offense and more consistent, now that he’s getting starting minutes. He’s just getting started showing what he can do on offense now with a green light.
Are we going to be able to pay him? Like is he going to be restricted, so we can pay him above the cap? Because he’s currently playing himself out of what we have to offer and I’d hate to see Caruso part 2.
Do we have that same kind of poison pill set up I forget what it was called that had we wanted and someone offered big on THT we could have had an advantage? He’s got as good mechanics shooting the ball as anyone out there and is looking like a close to 40% 3 point shooter with consistent minutes like this.
i believe the answer is yes. exact same deal as THT. arenas/early bird rights. we can pay him up to the full MLE in first year salary, and his offers are limited to that from other teams. someone with cap space can offer a balloon payment in years 3 and 4--like everyone threatened was going to happen with THT but didn't. my guess is we keep reaves on a deal like the one caruso wanted, because we can't be that stupid twice.
Rob canwe throw away young productive players like Randle, Zubac, Caruso, Nance, JC for absolutely nothing or close to nothing
his advanced numbers are actually slightly down. but otherwise i think he just is who he's been, which is a sixth man of the year type player (i know he's starting this year).
Super early in the season, but he’s worked to get those numbers up. I saw one Twitter comment that said something like thank you to whoever told Reaves to stop passing up shots, and I agree
