Never said it was simple, but I’m also not expecting him to go out and get top tier shooters. Compared to just how bad we have been from long range as a team, adding a couple of mid tier shooters would significantly help. We are currently relying on a guy who would most likely be passed over by a lot of G- League teams to be our Go-To Sniper. There are levels to this. Team building isn’t always about signing the most obvious guys that everyone wants. Rob has shown that he can do this- most recently with Monk last year and Walker(so far) this year.
Some of our guys, who are playing well and we’re starting to like a lot, who Rob was getting piling on crucified for (Walker and Brown) have shot at that level you’re talking about but not yet so far. (though both have definitely shown signs) Reaves I think if he knew he had his minutes locked with the starters would trend up toward that. Nunn and Bev who are our secondary trade chips, both fall into that category, but as of yet are not reaching it. Mock Ryan but it’s pretty clear being a possibly pretty good shooter is true for him at this level, unlike Swider who seemed to choke with his many opportunities just in pre-season, at this level. Ryan got pulled for defensive lapses. If just some of these guys start shooting like they have histories of doing we’d have won half of our games. There’s no guarantees bringing anyone in obviously when it comes to performing on the Lakers stage. Seems here a much more pressing need is getting a “decent” starting center to help AD out.
Yeah I agree. Our shooting was historically bad the first 5 games. But that’s a small sample size and we’re starting to even out on the shooting some. Last 3 games: Lonnie: 10/17 - 58% Westbrook: 6/13 - 46% Pat Bev: 2/5 - 40% Brown Jr: 7/18 - 39% (4 games) Reaves: 3/8 - 38% Wenyen - 6/15 - 40% Matt Ryan - 6/15 - 40% Lebron James - 2/17 - 12% Apart from Lebron, we’ve been shooting good. I know 3 games is a small sample size, but so is 5. I don’t think we’re a 40% shooting team, but I don’t think we’re a 20% shooting team either. I expect us to be around 34-36% when it’s said and done. Truthfully, if Lebron played good last game and we shot a bit better in the first 5. We’re probably 5-3? And maybe we split one of Denver and Minnesota so we are 6-2?
And maybe we get a lucky call or two in one of those 2 losses and we'd be 7-1. With better health Bryant and Schroeder would have given us extra depth... 8-0 would not be out of question!
Well there you go. and svtzr’s numbers for all those guys the last 3 games are actually at least promising. LeBron’s the fool we need to just send home and hope someone wants him at the deadline for something useful.
Hahaha! Fair point… but we lost two games by 5 combined points shooting less than >20%. And the last game Lebron cooked us. So that’s a 3 game swing.
I see effort. I see improvement. I'm not as down as most on this team as constructed. I definitely see improvement coming.
yeah, 2-7 incoming. after that, we better start winning lots of games. i think it's possible, but it has to start.
Haven't watched them, admittedly. Milwaukee undefeated? Just noticed. Haven't watched all games this year. Got busy. Cam Johnson out for Phoenix. Meniscus surgery coming for him. Just need to split the next two. If we don't, yeah, no bueno.
No depth, too many minimum guys that do 1 or 2 things well at best. Russ out there with lineups of Gabriel, JTA, Ryan, and Reaves, like what do you even do with that? Team needs a trade, we’re now in a 2-7 hole. Also shot 29% on threes, that’s like 6 of the 9 games we’ve shot in the 20’s, it’s not the outlier it’s the norm. Also f*** the refs for giving the Cavs 36 free throws, we got 21 and LeBron got 3, that’s nonsense.
