I do think the Spurs deal is better if you have to give up no first round picks. In addition to those players you’d get a 21 million trade exception to go trade for another player. That exception could be used to trade for Buddy or Turner and we wouldn’t have to give up both firsts because Indy wouldn’t be taking on Russ.

If you can improve the team without giving up the picks then absolutely that is the way to go.

I'm not against giving up the picks for the right deal though. We've constantly praised our scouting department so yeah, if you can get a pick coming back then I'm open to a deal.

I do like the idea of getting a couple of pieces that fit while also getting a trade exception that puts us in play for deals this summer.

I think anyone who is an average shooter would improve us right about now.

they'll trade those picks eventually, most Bron and Lakers team hardly ever focus on drafting

Mitch also historically didn't give out stupid contracts but then he gave out 2 in the same summer ('16, Deng & Mozgov) so, so much for tradition. It seems Mitch will do just about anything when his seat's hot. He is now in a completely different market than LA where he earned the rep for not tanking, that's a Laker thing, not a Kupchak thing and Pincus should know this. Tanking is a normal way to improve through the draft in a market like Charlotte. You bet your a$$ he'll tank if MJ wants it. MJ loves that lotto just like any other gambling.

    About 1:48 or so in

The big one, all or nothing thinking is why we suck right now, it’s a terrible mentality to operate with. Not everything has to be a home run, make smaller moves that add up to better things. Collect players on MLE salaries that can help us improve NOW, and also be flipped easily if we want. This mentality is infuriating and depressing, the people in charge have no vision, and we’re locked into this garbage until 2026.

For whatever reason? He puts up 16-18 ppg every season, is a decent to good 3 point shooter, and makes 12 mil per. He’s the sort of 6th man scorer teams love to have.

I took it as: For whatever reason as in he doesn't make a whole lot of sense on a tanking team and has more value to a playoff team and would net them some kind of return and by dumping him, it increases the quality of the tank.

I'd swap out Vanderbilt for Beasley because our frontcourt isn't good and MB plays a similar role to what Walker does for us. Hell if they'll do that, they can have a 2nd round pick from us too.
