Yeah, I feel like we can't keep shooting this bad right? Lol. I think Russ is done. He knows we want him gone and he also wants out. Don't see him turning it on when he knows he is out as soon as a decent deal emerges. I want to believe Nunn will be okay but man does he look bad out there. I think we understandably waited to see what he could give us and he just may not have it anymore. I think Lonnie has been a bright spot and expect his shooting to improve. I also think Bev will tick up.
If you watch the games this team is actually way better. I also think that only the Portland game was winnable by us at this stage. I was not expecting this team winning the champions, most-stacked team in the league and the double MVP team. We also know why we lost that game So yeah, it's not good to be 0-4 and shooting so bad but if anyone was hoping something completely different, it's their wrong in having unreal expectations. Then there's the other group of followers that don't see the games and just react to the memes. But I choose not to spend time with those I'm pretty sure this team would win 9 out of 10 against our team last year
AD will probably play another game or two before they shut him down for a month it's going to get really ugly
Just makes me want to vomit: Rob and Jeannie may share blame about Westbrook with AD/Lebron but this is all on them. Caruso on this team and it has a puncher's chance
pika: this apple is not an orange. khmr: yeah, but is it a grapefruit? being better than last year and being good aren't the same.
It's a brutal schedule, team can't shoot and is actually shooting below expected percentages, two stars who are dependent on spacing. If the team makes a trade, I wouldn't be surprised if the may a run the end of the year: strength of schedule matters
I think you’re looking for this thread, no idea why you’re looking for silver linings in the WMC. It’s ok to let people vent, this team sucks https://lakersball.com/threads/optimism-discussion-the-lakers-sky-is-not-falling.1533/page-428
yeah, i might need a few week break so that folks can settle down. we suck isn't basketball discussion.
Original post of this thread You can call people out in literally any thread but this one, this is literally why it exists, just venting. You CAN call people out in this one to be clear, it’s not a rule, I’m just saying, why? Forums are largely for venting, along with discussion. For someone like me it’s my only outlet, I know no one in real life that watches basketball, so I discuss and vent here, I have to, or I’d go crazy.
The team is what I thought so far. Improved but not enough to make a difference in the win/loss column. Need to take the next step, make a trade, and get us back as a playoff team. Don't like the notion that a trade has to automatically put us in the finals this year. Feels more like praying for a miracle than actually putting a real plan in place to build up a good team over the next few years.
eh, i see what you're saying, but i actually do think the trade has to be that impactful to justify emptying the chest. we emptied the chest for AD. i supported it then and now. he could never play another game for us, and we got a ring out of that deal that we would not have gotten otherwise. we gave up 5 years of flexibility for that. we hoped AD would carry us past it, but that would really just be gravy. as it stands, we'll probably have to pay the last part of that bill after AD ceases being a superstar (if this back thing is real, that day is today). now, can you say you feel the same about myles turner (who's injured as often and could walk in FA) and hield? about bodganovic and conley? we'd have been paying for those deals for years after their non-superstar production ended. i just can't find my way to it. i'd rather eat bad contracts and harvest picks to use going forward, tbh. for example, would dallas throw us a 2025 1st if we took bertans/thj/dwight powell for russ? just spitballin'
I'm not making any trades that involves giving up future assets just to be a playoff team. The Lakers made their bed and now have to lay in it based on actions dating back two summers ago starting with the Danny Green for Schroeder trade. For us, that means watching garbage basketball by "professionals" going winless for god knows how long. It is what it is. The irrational fan side of me will continue to complain and ask Rob to simultaneously fire himself and do something even though the best thing to do right now is nothing.
