If we could do that trade with Charlotte for one pick or less then I would prefer it over the Indy trade which will take both picks. I think Hield and Turner fill out more necessary roles for us but two picks is a steep price. That's why the Lakers haven't done it. They considered it but decided against it. I guess we shall see. Not sure Indy budges though. If not, yes to a deal if we can do it with Charlotte.

I would be happy with either trade. I like Turner's ability to step out and defend. He is obviously a good rim protector too and could hit threes. With that being said, I think in way his defensive skills would be kind of a luxury for us, not a necessity. I know people are thinking it would be nice to plug him in AD's spot, so we don't miss a beat with the rim protection. That is also a luxury. These are kind of things that we talked ourselves into about getting Westbrook. We said, "Westbrook could fill in for Lebron when he takes day off". Again, that is a luxury, not a need. I know this is Hollywood, but we should to address our needs first, before looking at luxury options. I hope we learned our lesson from the Westbrook trade. The Charlotte trade supplies more shooting and may enable us to keep one of the picks. We would get a super high volume shooter in Rozier, a high volume shooter in Washington, and a moderate volume shooter in Hayward. Also, all three are accurate three-point shooters as well. In contrast, if we trade for Hield and he gets injured, we would be bleeped! Probably wouldn't be wise to depend on Turner for the shooting. That would be an indication that we suck again from three.

Three Point Shooting Volume per 36 minutes:

    Hield 3.7/9.4
    Rozier 2.8/7.3
    Washington 2.0/5.4
    Hayward 1.6/4.3
    Turner 1.1/3.3

    Three Point %

    Hield 39.7
    Rozier 37.6
    Washington 37.6
    Hayward 37.1
    Turner 349

    Corner Three %

    Hield 47.2
    Rozier 40.2
    Washington 40.8
    Hayward 40.8
    Turner 33.8

Another thing of note: Washington is trending up. So far this season, his violume jumped to 3.1/7.1 and hitting 43.8% from three. He is in a contract year.

I really like the fit of both Rozier and Hayward on this team in a potential Westbrook trade. I understand the Lakers hesitancy in taking on both long term contracts, especially Rozier who is on the books for 4 seasons. Because it’s a salary dump, and Michael Jordan/Kupchak don’t seem as anti-Laker as Indiana, the Spurs, or Danny Ainge, we might be able to do this deal with favourable pick protections… or fingers crossed, no picks at all.

The thing is that Rozier is basically making the same amount we would have given Shroeder anyway, so we could also look at it from that perspective. Hayward’s contract is as long as Buddy Hield’s.

Both would fit nicely basketball wise, with Rozier being a capable defender, 3 point threat, and shot creator. Hayward is actually an ideal fit next to Lebron and AD, it’s always been a health and availability issue with him. He solves a lot of problems regarding wing depth and 3 point shooting.

If we get Rozier in the deal, it would make one of Beverley or Nunn expendable which we can flip for more wing depth or a center

Great points. Rozier is obviously a much better shooter than Dennis too. His contract is not even that bad. Actually a good deal for a #3 option.

Would be great to send out one of them with a pick for Turner. Not sure it would work with Nunn’s salary but I’d love to trade Pat Bev.

Regardless I think this type of approach is the right one: follow more the model of the bubble championship team. Fill out the roster with good complementary players for Lebron and AD. No star 3rd player is coming and learn from the Westbrook failure. Forget the cap space concept.

I would like to get PJ. We can then sign him in a friendly deal like 45/3 and finally start to have good contracts again, like was Kuzma.

We need guys like that again, not only to be competitive but to have the assets to replace LeBron with a star 2 years from now. Maybe at that time Murray is at that level, though lost in an underwhelming Atlanta team. Or Luka after two bad playoff runs. Or Booker. Who knows...
But it's that guy that gets us our next title, we are not winning one with LeBron anymore

"Lakers have been in the games. I think everyone is panicking a bit too fast. Last year these would have been 30pt blowouts."

No, this is what I said. Where is the excuse for the loses?

lol, that still wasn't favorable. i'm sure the '23 pick would be heavily protected (if not someone else's--probably the one they own that's likely philly's).

and they got our two firsts in the deal. nope. we're the ones taking on salary you can't move. gotta budge more than that.

I just realized that if we include either Nunn or Beverley with Westbrook, we could also take back Mason Plumlee with Hayward and Rozier.

Plumlee is a starting caliber center who can help block shots and also is a viable 3 point threat. He’s also on a expiring contract.

That basically solves all problems with this team

Plumlee for Nunn would be great too as you said.

That trade has to be too good to be true, which is why it’ll probably never happen. Unless Mitch wants to do Jeanie a favor haha. But Rozier, Hayward, LeBron, AD, Plumlee (Bev/Schröder, Walker/Reaves, Brown, JTA, Bryant/Jones ) ? To me if that doesn’t put us into contention, it at least puts us firmly in the playoffs with home court to start if we stay healthy. I’d do that deal in a second.

I think its more like Hayward OR Rozier with Oubre and Plumlee.

PJ they should keep if they lose Miles.

Both Hayward and Rozier and you’re looking towards both draft picks imo.

Any of those potential deals instantly make us much stronger. Depending on health, of course, bit it would be fun to watch for sure.
