oh, i don't know about "good" players. players substantially better than westbrook, though. the problem is that we've not dropped two games we'd have won if we simply just didn't have russ with no other changes to the roster.

i imagine there are meetings occurring among higher-ups as we speak.

as far as who: just look for any veteran making more money than they're worth, playing on a team that wants to lose, and having a contract that extends past this season. i think anyone fitting that profile will be available for russ.

The best time to make a trade that keeps us competitive was over the offseason. Teams that have those pieces will drive up the asking price after seeing how desperate we need Russ off the team.

More trades options will naturally become available as the season progresses but how many of those will actually be able to move the needle for us. And at that point is it even possible to save the season.

 

Then Russ has to sit.

I like that the Hornets are on the table. I've always thought we could get something done with them.

Pacers deal is the best one in terms of return, but we're at a stalemate right now over picks. Are they going to tank? Not sure they come off the two pick ask even if they are in tear it down mode.

I like Charlotte and they seemed liked the most realistic trade partner before Bridges ruined it for everyone. The bad news is they're overarching right now and all their players are putting up numbers, limiting our return in a trade.

The Jazz are also really overdoing it right now. They need to purge talent and have some useful players for us. But Ainge f***ed us once. I'm scared as to what else Rob would "throw in" in a deal because Danny asked for it.

The option I'm least excited about is a SA deal. I don't think a lot of their available players.

This is where I think you go with the deal that doesn't require you to give up the picks or nets us a pick in return even if the players involved are lesser on paper.

We just need to reach average shooting. Some of that should occur naturally as I tend to agree with guys who think its almost impossible for us to keep shooting this bad.

Also, if we can get away from Indiana then I'm fine with that as I don't expect their demands to go down.

not sure why fans are so angry with our FO when this kind of crap was happening over the summer.

i'm actually excited about SA as a possibility because i think we can get things done there without picks. they can eat the rest of russ's salary and not incur any taxes after swapping him for just richardson and mcdermott. throw them three seconds and a pick swap or something. get it done tonight.

 

Yeah. I would do the deal with the Spurs this afternoon if its out there.

 

If they keep this roster for 20 games, it's going to get ugly.
