Clippers made the playoffs with their two best guys out right? I may be remembering wrong and don't really track them, but if they did, it speaks to the difference in the quality of depth on the rest of the roster
When did they do that? They were watching the playoffs with us. It's unrealistic, you think we make the playoffs with Shaq and Kobe playing in 27 and 21 games? Seriously, we had a Hall of Fame HC, and a great supporting cast.
The equivalent with the Clippers would have been Kawhi and George playing in 21 games and Morris or Jackson missing the entire season too. Didn't happen, this is why I point to Golden State, a somewhat similar situation. Even then I think Curry played down the stretch a lot.
yeah, still not into excuses but I hear your point and yes, it's part of the game winning the championship is sometimes not up to only the best team, but all of the other factors that play into things such as health Nobody gets awards for "if we were healthy, we would have won". Magic should have 6 titles if a couple of hamstrings didn't come into play. Would he be more in the GOAT discussion if he did? It's just a pointless activity. For all we know, they would have just sucked together that year with lackluster play and infighting. It's why you play the game.
or Justified Wrath that players won't like. We may not be good enough to win it all, but play hard, show improvement, and don't milk the time off that too many athletes take, and the fans will be 100% behind you. You can still have a lot of fun watching a developing team that is improving and playing their hearts out. But if they suck and aren't trying that hard, fans should let them know how they feel with the pen, the pocketbook, their voices, etc.
I'm optimistic as always going into a new season. I think this is the best team that we've had since the bubble, which will make it one of the best teams we've had in years. We have the superstars, we have solid veteran guards, we have youth with some talent and athleticism, and we have a fresh voice, with some innovative ideas on the coaching staff. Health looms as a factor for every team in every season, availability is the key factor as always. That being said, every member of this team should be highly motivated, and going into this season with a chip on their shoulders, from the coaching staff on down. I'm expecting a high level of intensity and effort from everyone. It starts from the top, if we get a full season from Lebron and AD, this team is going to be great IMO, top 3 in the West!
Jeanie is oblivious. She gave him an extension after he put together the two most poorly constructed Laker squads we have ever seen. I’m not watching anymore of this garbage live until changes are made. I’ll be spending more time this season on League Pass watching teams that are worth my time investing in.
Let me guess....in the off-season Pelinka will let 90% of the roster go because "we wanted to improve our long range shooting"....as he signs a few 35 year old shooters. Then the Lakers go 20-60 and he will let 90% go again: "well, we need youth and athleticism"... like a broken record. His teams have literally no balance whatsoever...last year the average age was like 47. This year literally nobody can shoot. What happened to team balance and kind of different skillsets? I'm not sure I would have done a worse job and I spend barely 10 minutes a day on basketball these days.
Well it's hard to get shooters who are also young and defend at the vet minimum, it should be easier this coming offseason since we have $30 million dollars of freed up cap space. But yea, point taken, Pelinka sucks and I have no confidence he'll use that cap space wisely.
I think Rob will act. It's clear he has been working the phones. I feel like at some point a deal will come through though I do wish we could've gotten something done before the season. I also think there are ways he can recover and get us back assets if we do give up a pick here. He's got options especially if we're open to taking on a longer contract.
