hard to know before we know who has cash. we only have early bird rights on him, too.

also, what constitutes balling out? if he's a playable guy for 30mpg--defends and puts up 15/5 or so, he could fetch as much as 15 per annually (this is your sixth man/quasi starting guard salary slot, right?). then again, he basically did that for miami and had to take our mini mle last year.

so my best guess is that even if he plays pretty well, we can keep him at a reasonable number--3/50 max i'd guess? and his value in trade is maybe a little lower due to his non-bird status--teams over the cap might be a bit wary of giving up value given that he could walk at just over the mle.

for me, it excises westbrook, gives us two very playable wings with size and a good backup/placeholder type center to wrassle with the bears. and costs no picks. lebron's extension pretty much killed FA for us (as will all these other extensions being signed), so taking on hayward's extra year means very little to me.

Yeah, that's about right. Compare that to Rozier's 3/74 or so owed over the same time frame and you realize Terry's deal is not that bad. Rozier owed a total of 96 million over the next 4 years. Somewhat reasonable given his production, and the increasing NBA cap.

yeah, rozier's not a radioactive contract. he's just one that if he gets hurt or declines (he's approaching 30 as a small guard) would be hard to move. i like having a very clear cap the second lebron is gone--raises the chances of a quicker rebuild, imo.

Rozier is an undersized SG type. These players are usually successful playing with Lebron. Rozier played well in the back court with Ball too. Could possibly even do the same with another over sized PG, like Reaves. I rather just pay Rozier that 4/96 then paying the other three PGs.
    • Nunn 3/50 is kind of shaky given the injury risk
    • Schroeder is just not a good fit for us man.
    • Beverly is solid, but is aging. I wouldn't mind bringing him back for a reasonable price.

I think I would role the dice for Rozier having at least 2 seasons with Lebron. If Lebron leaves, the Lakers could get cute with a big PG/small SG line up, with Reaves. Heck, they could do that as soon as this season I'd they want.

If Lakers trade Westbrook/Wenyan/Nunn for Rozier/Hayward/Washington, it actually gives us some flexibility.
    • The 2027 and 2029 1st can be used after the season to unload Hayward expiring contract. Would be easier to unload than Westbrook because he makes less money and it is a weak free agent class.
    • The newly acquired players could be flipped in conjunction with the pick(s), if a third star type becomes available.

they missed him badly last year, just like chicago missed patrick williams, imo. that's a lot of scratch, but he's an elite three and d big wing the likes of which gives this forum 24-hour erections.

Wanting a third star is what got us in this mess. I wish we would focus on building a team with good role players instead of rotating minimum guys every year.
