After the last couple of seasons, it’s a hard pass unless they are winning. Watching a sport done poorly is not entertaining, and that’s why I watch basketball.

I know we troll especially you, but I will tell you this is much better (I know it is early) to watch.

I'd say give it a shot during the regular season. You might surprised.

Lakers will try to survive you not watching the games.
We mourn that too in this message board :'(

Well I'm sure the Lakers will do just fine lol. But if fans leave by the tens of thousands, the message is delivered that we won't stand for a substandard product and pay premium prices for their version of "entertainment". Like many worldwide fans, it takes extra commitment to be a fan due to the time zone I'm in to watch the games.

They haven't been worth the effort in a couple of years tbh. Give me a good reason to lose some valuable sleep and we'll talk.

But if my presence is missed at all (And I think you were being tongue in cheek lol), I take that as the highest compliment, and I also miss participating with fellow fans about our shared passion and team.

    Hopefully brighter days are ahead.

This unironically was a big deal to me lol. Going winless in the preseason last year to mirror the abysmal 2012/2013 season felt like such a bad omen.

So breaking that curse and winning even just one preseason game really does make me much more optimistic :D

No, it matters. Losing constantly creates a bad mentality. Last season it crept in and created this “eh, we’ll get the next one” lack of urgency that had that team quitting games in the first quarter sometimes. You have to care about winning sometimes even if it’s meaningless in the standings, it creates some positivity and shows pride.

So far Lonnie, AD and Russ have all shot unexpectedly well. All seem to have put in considerable time into it this off-season and maybe they can get to mid 30s.

And once you add in Lebron who will be around 35% around on volume and Nunn and Bev who should be around 40%. We could maybe be better than unexpected from three.

And Nunn was dismissed completely by most. Maybe he stays next year for less than market since he couldn’t play even one game last year for the TP mid level. He shoots the hell out of the ball. There was waaay too much sky is falling about this roster it’s seeming to me anyway after getting longer looks at rest of our guys.

AD fixed his FT form. It's a little flat now, so I am still worried.

If we get this version of AD we’re going to be in a position to make some noise.

definitely feeling more optimistic about the team.

    Ham was a good choice.

    OK, time for some optimism:

    1. we won
    2. the team is better than last year, for sure
    3. these young guys don't have a TON of talent, but they are scrappy, they work hard and have some skills that will work well with the main guys
    4. Nunn fits extremely well. He's an excellent addition to the team. I think he's a better playmaker than most people thought, in addition to being a solid shooter/scorer.
    5. speaking of shooting, AD's shot looks much better (and he reminded us of how dominant he can be when healthy). Also, if we can have just one more guy in addition to Nunn & PatBev who can consistently shoot well (because Bron will for sure, on high volume) we're in business
    6. this team is actually somewhat fun to watch.
    7. the Lakers look like a playoff-worthy team. That might be all they will be able to do, but it's an improvement and I'll take it. Have to stay relevant.

Biggest positive I've seen is that when our rotation guys are in, we have outplayed the opposition. It has fallen off for us when we go to the 3rd string vs. the other team's starters or 2nd unit. Luckily most of those guys will barely or never sniff any minutes with the Lakers and instead will be with South Bay this year.

I’m pretty optimistic seeing the defensive emphasis and offence sets and plays we we putting together.

The Ham hiring and roster build seems like a real improvement.

I nominate @LaVarBallsDad to do some sleuthing to find @therealdeal and with those persuasive powers of his convince @therealdeal to update this title as well to be on par with the WMC thread ..... AND ..... see if he can convince him to come back. Failing that maybe he can ask one of the Mods? :D
