This was done before the Ham hire?!

Jeanie is not qualified to hold down her position.

The only positive, the you're GM'ing for your job angle from the opposition is dead.

This explains (not that I think it’s wrong) him clinging to the 27 & 29 picks so hard now. I expected he’d be fired next off-season, but he will be here and those are his only assets to work with. He’s been repeating that over and over, that the move with them has to be a home run, but now it makes sense truly why.

he's being given a chance to dig out from the russ deal--which i think ownership is admitting wasn't his fault, btw.

i think he deserves that, tbh. i know it's not a popular opinion on the forum, but he can't be the fall guy for the russ deal when it's clear he didn't initiate it and actually had other concrete plans.

he can still be fired before that if things go haywire, but i like him not feeling pressure to fix everything overnight. it's a deep hole.

There’s no way he gets fired, that’s super clear now. One because the Lakers are cheap and won’t pay him to go home and then pay a new GM, and two because he’s clearly part of the nepotism family. I didn’t see that clearly before, I thought he was more of an outsider, but getting an extension after the worst season in Lakers history proves that without a doubt. All the blame got put on Klutch/LeBron/AD for the Russ trade, and all the blame for the losing got put on Vogel, and Pelinka is not only safe but gets an EXTENSION. It’s laughable, we’re the greatest franchise in league history and we employ one of the worst GMs in the league, and overall run like a mom and pop shop. We are screwed when LeBron retires and Klutch packs up and leaves, we’re the Knicks West.

don't see how we can possibly evaluate rob as one of the worst gms in the league. he's one of the only ones who's presided over a title, and one of the only ones who's both signed and traded for a superstar player.

many supposedly great gms have done none of it and just perform sleight of hand tricks for the fans and media.

This roster has 80 guards, like 2 wings, 1 true PF, and can’t shoot to save their lives. Last year we were like the oldest team in the league. I can absolutely judge him on what he’s done, and what he’s done is slowly tear down a championship roster.

Rob isn't responsible for AD and Lebron missing all this time over the last two seasons. The single biggest issue with our performance.

He did a good job on 3/4 on off-seasons in my opinion.

1: landing AD, building our a roster around him and LeBron led to a title.
2: Gasol, Schroeder and Trez off-season was a success
3: landed Russ while signing some bad veterans - results were terrible but still some good moves by him in Melo, Monk and Nunn
4: rebuilt the team with youth and addressed PG, SG and C rotation areas - we don’t know the results but I think he did a good job

If we has health for years 2 and 3 from our stars we’re probably in the second round or WCF’s in both years and it’s not doom and gloom.

I think you have to seperate the execution with the outcome. And when I do that he is doing a good job. Not great but definitely not terrible.

I’ll never understand fans going to bat for a mediocre GM. I didn’t say Rob deserves to be fired right NOW, I said he’s done nothing to warrant an extension through 2026. I don’t see how that’s controversial or debatable. I was fine with giving him this season to see how he does at recovering from the godawful Russ trade, then evaluating and seeing where you go from there with him. But to extend him in the middle of this mess he created, nonsensical, nepotism at its finest.
