I don’t want to keep the picks or cap space for next years free agent class. I’m much more interested in what star or key player might ask for a trade that’s not on the radar yet. Without picks there’s zero chance you even get to bid no less win the bid. Sure it’s a gamble but but it’s not like Turner and Hield are a great winning hand. They are more like hand of 17, it’s not going to win but you can’t take another card.

Fair points. I’m higher on those guys than you are. I actually preferred a Utah trade but nothing came together.

According to this article Darvin Ham obviously thinks otherwise. (Like me!!) Lol He has a valid point , he got hired on that plan he had in mind for Russ too. Tells me that the get rid of Russ talk, is absolutely not some unanamous opinion in the FO.

I don't really believe that we were ever seriously " close" to trading Russ. It goes against everything that Jeannie, Lebron, AD and Darvin has stated publicly. However the media experts will continue to trot out these same bad deals, as long as some fans remain interested in them. I like Myles but he's been shopped for 3 years straight, but he foils these trades by keep getting hurt. Now you really think that it's some wise move to trade for him now?without playing any games? No Bueno.

Ironically Westbrook has been in the league for 14 seasons. His teams have made the playoffs more than the Lakers during that time. I guess this means that we haven't liked winning that much either right?

I'm with LJ on we need a trade and we need it yesterday.

The problem with an in season trade is 97% of trades during the season don't have the success the Pau trade had right out of the gate. Factor in a new coach, new system, and an entire new roster and there's no point. We needed the trade before training camp, getting it done during pre-season would be better than nothing because you can try some things before it counts. In season, even 20 games in like Pincus suggested might be the decision marker, is too late to turn the ship around.

It's one pre-season game... and really not even that, it's barely even two quarters of play. BUT the spacing will not work. Swider still looks like the best shooter out there by a significant margin and he is not in an 11 man rotation under any healthy circumstances. The number of redundant small guards has been covered for the past few pages, no need to go there. I think Bryant needs to start as soon as he gets in a NBA rhythm again cause he can space it better, is bigger, and plays bigger. The rebounding was a lot worse than I expected, Turner isn't great but compared to who he would be stepping in for, he would look like Rodman out there.

If you can't shoot, can't rebound, and don't have the personnel to defend then I don't care how great a 40 year old Bron is or if AD has a career year, you are not going to win basketball games. If you're great at 2 of the 3, you can make it work but this team isn't that.

I push the chips all in because I think Turner fixes a lot of problems. He is an elite defensive big can be that last line of defense and that lets AD roam and chase wings off the perimeter. If AD gets gassed from that, they can switch it up. AD is better at it, but Turner can move, react and recover well enough to flip roles for stretched. That wrinkle covers up the fact that we don't have anything close to a starting caliber defensive wing (Bron in high stakes short bursts and that's it) . Then on offense, he can stretch the court with his range. I've said before, I think he's the best available frontcourt pairing next to AD that we will have a shot at acquiring during AD's time here. If you're ready to move on past the AD years then that won't matter to you.

Then Buddy is a starting level shooter. We do not have a rotational level shooter who gets that level of respect from a defense. I don't think he's playable for a contender in the playoffs, but guess what we have 6 players I could say the same thing about. I look at him the way I looked at Trezz, you need someone to eat up those regular season minutes. That buys us some time to figure out other spacing options and maybe some creative ways to hide Buddy in a 7 game series.

With the Indy deal, I think we can reach 5th and have as good of a chance as anyone in the playoffs depending on matchup and health. As is, this team is 7th-9th, going to the play in, and best case scenario is getting swept in round 1.

Why hold on to assets for 5 and 7 years from now if Jeanie is still in charge? Do we all remember where we were before Bron came here for reasons outside of basketball. I HATE the klutch signings year after year, but without Bron we're an incompetent inclusive front office who can't get out of the lottery. Post Bron years terrify me because of the mom and pop financial restrictions and the fact that our owner is surrounded by stupidity and she won't hire the best. So because of that I'm willing to milk these Bron years until the well is dry because the years that follow look like a post apocalyptic scene out of Mad Max. I'll take 5th seed with a shot vs. holding out for the x year plan while getting the 5th pick in the draft.

If it's not the FA plan. Then it's wait for the unhappy star. Guess what...Two picks will not net you a star in a trade and that's all we have to give. Throw out a name of a top 15 player and you're not getting them for our limited assets. Four... maybe five teams can offer a better deal in their sleep.

If I'm thinking hypothetically: Nunn, Hield, LBJ, AD, & Turner would do pretty well together.

That's probably a top 4 seed if everybody is healthy.

Wouldn't promise you a title but it would give you a shot.

Turner wouldn't make it to the All Star break and Hield would be shooting in the low 30% from 3. We'd look like complete total idiots. Because we're stuck with both on long term deals.

You want to talk Kyrie or Beal or something..I'm listening.

Your love for Russ runs deep.

Did I ever say I would trade both first round picks for them? No. I would do the 27 pick, though.

That's about all their worth. As far as your silly scenario? That is comical.

And no GM in their right mind is trading Beal or Kyrie for Russ. Is that what you're insinuating? If so, that is pretty funny, too.

Although, I did think Kyrie was going to force his way over here at one point, but then I realized we were probably just used as leverage.

    Shrugs.

If you're a Lakers fan, that's how we judge winning. If we're all rooting for number 18, then number 0 has been a failure from a team standpoint his whole career.

Individually? Hall of Fame. Otherwise? Failure. And if he's on this team for the season, then we'll likely be bounced by by April/May.

    Just my opinion. :)

We own every pick except the 2024 OR 2025 if New Orleans foregoes the 2024 pick. New Orleans also can chose to swap pick in 2023 but we still get their pick if they do. The issue with trading 27 and 29 is that we can’t trade consecutive year FRP. So it severely limits our options because of the New Orleans situation.

Sarcasm..I don't wish injuries on anyone. I wouldn't doubt the Hield thing though. Players force their way out all the time, it's the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised at all if either wanted to come to the Lakers. AD will still be here, and I'm expecting him to be back on his A game this season. Most of these big trades don't return like value but involved future picks. Again I'd trade for the near franchise player over two decent role players.

Same thing was said about Anthony Davis. Then he linked up with Lebron.

I hear that you can't win a chip if you don't make the playoffs. Fans are entitled to their own opinions but F not making the playoffs for 10 years by saying that we won 1. I'd rather get there 8 times, perhaps we win 3.

Yep..thanks to Lebron and AD. The two dudes that wanted Westbrook here. Perhaps they know something the "experts " don't.

Buha was on Fischer's pod and had this to say...

-it was at the 1 yard line internally. The media was hearing that at one point, for several hours, the Lakers had internally agreed to offer up the deal to Indy. The consensus didn't last long and ultimately they decided to wait and see instead.

I don't see a universe where you go from at the 1 yard line, finger on the trigger to riding it out the entire year.

Meh..Buha is a hack. If you didn't know, you will get it before the season is over. Dude hasn't had an inside source since Trez in the bubble.
