Right, but this team should have a lot more “give a f***” in them at least and be in games not getting destroyed by 30 nightly. That’s important, the product put out being entertaining is important, Lakers fans will get behind a team that plays hard even if they don’t win a ton. It’s great to see Nunn playing again as well, it can easily be argued that if he stays healthy he’s our biggest acquisition of the off-season.
interesting angle on the "we should all attack" instead of "we should all defer", but i'm still a bit nervous that it's all about offense. our offense was bad last year, but our defense was worse. i want to hear the stars talk more about who's taking up the challenge on that end and how. that's how the season ends up different than last year. focusing on offense is silly, imo. we won with defense. ham knows you win that way. i want to hear the stars talk about that first.
Anyone else notice they mentioned Huff and Bryant were running together in one of the lineups? Also I’ve been waiting to hear, speaking about Bryant, someone say he’s been looking good or knocking down shots? Have seen Jones showing his welcome big man hops at least once and Ham commenting on his movement out there.
We have to do something to make sure Huff doesn't get away. I know we have some talented young pieces, but we need to do something contractually with him.
Established or promising Big Man in Lakers organization …. what would Magic do? Jeanie don’t you dare be asking him over any damn conversation or texting. Adios Lopez. Adios Zu. Adios Bryant.
yeah, i have huff above swider, pippen, and gabriel in terms of talent. and since none really fill an immediate role, imo, you go with the talent. and if we're going to play big with AD at the 4 a lot, a third center might help us weather injuries.
I'm okay with giving him the last roster spot but we tend to hold an open roster spot. I guess we can someone like Gabriel later if needed. If not I'd probably switch out Pippen Jr for Huff on our 2 way since we have an abundance of guards.
yeah, the coaching staff and scouts see something in pippen i don't, so i'll let them have it. i've wondered if huff might be holding out for a guaranteed vet min from someone (someone should give it to him).
If Huff can play next to one of the other Cs, that's certainly an interesting and unexpected wrinkle. Haven't heard anything about Bryant since camp started, but before camp Trudell reported that there was a lot of positive buzz surrounding him from off-season workouts. I noticed how much more matured and veteran-y he sounded in his media day interviews vs last time I heard him interviewed (last time he was a Laker).
jones looks good in the clips. he's a finisher, and the starting unit needs that maybe as much or more than a shooter. i think word is he's getting decent at standing threes, too. going to be nice to have decent centers again.
Yeah, if these guys are allowed to shoot and they actually convert 3's (referring to centers), that will certainly open up the offense.
Our offence was actually slightly worse than our defense but I agree we should go back to being a defense first team. In the years past, our O fed off our defense cause we’d score better after stops. When we’re always inbounding after giving up baskets, our offense faces a set defense.
Last play: Russ gets downhill and passes to Jones for the corner three, and he missed. My mistake. Thought he converted. But those are the opportunities that will be there for him all season.
