Bottom picture in the article.... really? Mitch has gotta be thinking, "what did I do to deserve this?"
He does not look the part, and I could care less being he's the one that was so high on getting Clarkson. Good work Jesse!
If Jesse Buss got his way, we wouldn't entertain trading these guys! Great read @JSM thanks for posting this.
sartorial choices aside, I thought that was a really good interview. his responses to the questions weren't those of daddy's inept son in a role too big for him. I liked what he had to say about character and scouts bringing unique perspectives, and I didn't know how involved he was in picking Clarkson. good example of the latter principle in that the lakers scouting dept had to see things in Clarkson that others didn't. and they were right.
BUMP! Guess Trudell does one of these every 7 years? (Didn't look to see if there were any after the initial) also mods, can we update the title to the Jesse Buss thread? This is the closest thing I found to one.
I’ve given the opinion before that the scouting efforts that were evolving under Mitch including the younger Buss brothers and Ryan West likely benefitted a great deal from what Ryan learned from Jerry about what to look for in players and evaluating talent.
Our scouts do amazing… but then the team gets little return from their efforts. We manage to find studs late or even undrafted, don’t give them team friendly deals, sometimes butcher their development, and then don’t retain them. I hope we’ve learned from those mistakes and do better with Reaves, Christie and the others.
