yeah, i honestly can't see a scenario in which i'm happy trading AD. as i've said many times, you never want to be the seller in a superstar trade. and if he's really damaged goods, then i'd wait until he was expiring and use him like that rather than take pennies on the dollar.

One of his kids is rocking a Lakers jersey. We love to have too many small guards. If we do move Russ, I wonder if this reunion is still in play.

gotta believe schroder has a bunch of offers at the minimum and he's waiting for someone to pony up more cash. the spurs have tons to spend and zero pgs on their roster. wonder if they'd consider a bloated 1 year deal for schroder.

I don’t know why you combined those two trades. It’s effectively:

Trade 1: Westbrook + 2 firsts for Turner and Hield. We lose this trade pretty clearly.

Trade 2: AD + Nunn for Wiggins, Wiseman and 2 firsts. We are giving up a top 5 player for two worthless picks, wiseman who isn’t great and wiggins who is decent but has significant issues. We lose this trade pretty clearly as well.

It also means we make the warriors into a juggernaut again. They’d be able to run:

    Curry
    Poole
    Klay
    Green
    AD

Without fear because of AD and Green’s defence. That much shooting with that defence would be scary. Their bench would consist of Nunn, Divincenzo, Kuminga and Looney.

No thanks. They’d win the next two rings, Lebron would retire and our best player would be Wiggins.

I mean, yeah... as I said before, this would work for both teams and there's no reason to try to screw anyone in the process. Just do a fair trade here.

Who are we getting next season with roughly $30 million a season to spend on a player or two? I’ve seen the list and no combo of those guys or just adding one is getting us close to becoming a contender. Even if we convince Kyrie to take much less than his max(40 something per year), we would have no money left to build out a proper team.
Please don’t tell me just adding Turner will do it because it won’t.

No to Schroeder. Once was enough. Dodged a MAJOR bullet when he turned down our 4 yr/$84 million offer.

we've been over this, but i'm actually not sure we did. had he signed, we probably don't make the russ trade, and we're in better position today.

Ainge seems to always end up getting someone to give him what he wants. I wouldn't be surprised at all if another team coughed up picks and received little to no backlash for it.

it's an interesting narrative. imo, ainge has been living on the kg deal (which mchale gifted him after his owner had negotiated a better deal with us) and the other kg deal, for which billy king will never work again.

if you read carefully on the donovan mitchell saga, it's pretty clear to me that he had better offers earlier in the summer, and waiting actually cost him some on the return. i think it balances out that he got more than he should have for gobert (though nothing in on-court talent).

people also forget that while the nets deal got them tatum and brown, ainge also hoarded a bunch of picks over time that ended up wasted and/or difficult to use. what if that happens again, but with no tatum jackpot? is the gobert trade still impressive?

anyway, i just don't know that ainge is some sort of masterful gm, and i think his only partially earned reputation changes how people view his deals. for example, if he gets a 1st and 2 2nds for bogdanovic but has to eat davis bertans's deal in the process, did he win? people will say so, but just because it's ainge doing it, not because that's obviously better than some alternatives.

I completely agree. Particularly that he gets too much praise and not enough criticism.

To me, it feels like things have shifted from the team getting the best player winning the deal to the team hoarding the most picks winning deals. Or at least that's how we are treated with the AD trade.
