“KD’s back and forth games have affected the livelihood of other players and their families. The owners need to find a solution to this type of stuff now before they end up taking it out on all the players during the next CBA negotiations.”

This is a commissioner issue. Owners would try to do something, then some f*** faces will cry discrimination and the owners will crawl back into their turtle shell.

so how do we get rid of Russ this season, while potentially opening cap for Kyrie next season if its true that he wants to come here?

The only option available is to send him home, pay half his salary and hope for a miracle in the deadline:giggle:

i wouldn't be surprised if at least one of KD/kyrie is dealt at the deadline. two disgruntled superstars playing out the entire season with the team they want off of seems like something that won't happen

We don't, in all likelihood. I think this summer was probably our shot to get Kyrie, after LeBron's extension we can only offer somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 million per year. As much as LeBron wanted Kyrie on this team, I also don't think he's cool with just throwing away this year. I think we make a Russ deal (hopefully the Indiana deal) that takes us out of contention to sign Kyrie next year, unless we somehow got Hield/Turner and then traded Hield into cap space next summer while resigning Turner with his bird rights (even that might not work due to cap holds). But yeah, I can't see us making no Russ trade and just letting him expire so Kyrie probably isn't a realistic option next summer.

The positive is we can move on.

Again, as it presently constructed (IMO), this is a 41-win team.

My guess is something does get done to add more shooting.

    Has to, IMO.

actually glad the kd thing's done. that was going to be a bad thing for the league, imo.

let's burn up the phone lines with utah, indy, and whomever else will talk turkey on russ.

our schroder interest doesn't surprise me at all, tbh. if we move russ, we'll need a pg other than nunn, and schroder wasn't that bad here before.

Meh...Russell Westbrook isn't getting traded anywhere. Unless it's for Kyrie Irving..you cats might as well get used to it. It's possible that we make some other minor trade or move before training camp though. Schroder would be a good pick up, and if Mitchell gets moved, there may be some players within Tucker's salary range that might become available. Any guy making over 20 million with another year or two under contract, forget about it.

I hope now we’re not in the same situation, stuck on waiting to see if Utah trades Mitchell before they’re ready to deal with us…

I’d be content with a Russ for Bogdanovic/Beverly trade (I think they would have to throw in at least Rudy Gay to make salaries work, ideal scenario would be Clarkson instead), but I wonder what kind of draft compensation that would require.

Utah would already be giving up expiring contracts so we can’t really argue that we’d be giving them salary relief. So I definitely think they’d still demand draft compensation. I would hope one protected first would get that deal done, but I think Ainge would play hardball and still ask for two firsts. Which would be a dealbreaker to me, I’d much rather transition to the Indiana trade.

I know we always assume we get lumped in as an “interested team” to get clicks, but I don’t get the sense that this Gambo guy is going to BS like that.

I still don’t think there is any chance we’d actually be able to get Mitchell, but hypothetically if it was possible, I’d gladly give up all our picks and Russ to make that happen

The media is going to throw the Lakers name around basically anyone with a pulse, right up until training camp.
