i couldn't tell what you meant here. that pippen will be as useful as dj augustin next year (disagree, actually)? that his pedigree warrants a longer rope? maybe. but i still have strong doubts he'd be our guy if he wasn't klutch's guy.

pippen doesn't matter much to me because i don't think we're losing out on much to keep him around (huff's too good for a two-way, imo). but still...this is clearly agency stuff.

I meant in a year or two if he can shoot decently for his position he ought to be able to be as useful as DJ was for us this season. Not even to his prime yet. He’ll be stronger than he is now and more skilled than he is now, better tricky handles and even better footwork than he has now (which may be better than DJ already[?] I truthfully don’t know if DJ has any of the tricky step through 2nd and 3rd derivative stuff that Pip has a start on). In 2 years Pippen won’t even be to his prime yet. Vs this year’s Augustin. If that clarifies do you still say that and why? Besides you’re just a hater when it comes to McClung and Pippen?

    ;) ;)

augustin was good enough to be drafted #9 overall after two seasons at tx. yes, people make mistakes in the draft, for sure. but i mean...the gulf of accomplishments between the two at similar ages is quite wide.

but you mean current augustin. i still think current augustin a) has proven he can run a team and b) can shoot it a little. you're in trouble if either is factoring in your rotation.

it's possible pippen carves out a career as a backup (a la tyus jones or tj mcconnell), but it's a longshot, imo. it's a longer shot for mcclung, who really doesn't have much in the way of pg instincts from what i've seen.

these just aren't impressive prospects, imo. and i found it weird that everyone loved swider and pippen and were disappointed in christie when, to me, only christie looked like a viable nba player (and even that is two years down the road). i guess it's the draft position. but i think there was a reason for that, and i felt like i saw it.

Yes I’m talking about Augustin this year. No one seemed to think he sucked or was hating on him. In fact in a number of ways we felt he improved on Westbrick. He’s 34 years old. He’s listed at 5’11” and listed last year at 183 lbs. We mock that height now as “midgets”. At 34 and 5’11” how good on D and strong there for it can he be? I didn’t realize Pip is “listed” at 6’3”. So he must be at least an honest 6’2”. He’s 21 years old and is throwing already some Reaves level eye catching passes and is tricky with the stuff he does on offense and defense (my point about his Pops as well with the mental schooling about what it’s going to take.). He seems mature for his age in knowing how to run an offense at least against a lot of players drafted at all/and much higher than him if he’d have gone last. He’s got 4 years to go or more to even hit his prime. Where is he you seem to feel certainly going to come up short in say 2 years vs compared to over 30 years old and 34 years old specifically this year 5’11” 183lbs DJ Augustin, let alone another 5 years in Pip’s prime? He has to be able to shoot. But listening to his Pops on the sideline, scoring was not a problem for him and now he’s focussed on passing first and setting up the offense.

I don't get this notion that if a player is short then he won't be able to play in today's time. The game has changed where it can be more acceptable for smaller players to fit in the NBA. It's a small ball league that is played on the perimeter. Pipp is short, and will lose some battles in cross matches due to his size, but this happens to most teams. I kind of like the grit that he plays on the defensive end from what I have seen. The people that were bashing Pipp were the same one that were bashing Reaves last season. I'm looking at his potential, because he does have a skill set on offense. He will have to play better to improve on cutting down on the turnovers, but I think his issues are fixable with more work in refining his craft.

nope, we will see fingers crossed

I hope we GLeague him so he gets playing time. Not so sure he'll get much PT on this roster.

He's one of our two-way contracts, so that's generally how it works. He can only spend about half the season on the active roster, and will likely spend most of his time in the G-League.

Also, not sure if I'm just noticing it or if it's new, but your signature is gold! :D

Surprised with all the talk of final 1 or 2 roster spots no discussion yet of LLVSICFD factor.

(LeBron Las Vegas Special Invite Camp Final Decisions) :giggle: << why laughing? See Austin Reaves. Wait until he sees the sustained heat from his dishes to Swider. :D

I'm thrilled about this accomplishment and being a proud general of LBJ's army.

Eddie Jones is a fan, too.

this is probably assuming he plays 82 games, though? at his recent games-played rate, he'll probably need to average 25. he's definitely up to it and unafraid to dribble into late clock stepbacks to make it happen!

i know the nba hates it, but i'd love to see lebron become a midpost beast like mj, kobe, dirk, malone, etc. to finish his career. he's such a great passer that it should open up all sorts of things. i always thought he'd end up a full-time pf by now, but he flipped the script and started bombing long threes. and i get why. and it's worked to some degree. but mix in him getting the ball near the elbows and watching teams figure out what the hell to do with that. i mean, teams can't handle draymond on the short roll. what do you do with lebron on a mismatch in the dead center of the floor? hell, this is basically the denver nuggets offense.
