Here comes another 40 draft picks for Ainge where he won't do anything with unless he gets Jordan in his prime talent.

Knicks certainly have the picks. Throw in 1-2 young assets and deal is done. What's next though? Brunson and Mitchell can certainly score with the best of them in the East. Bring some excitement back to The Garden. Can they build the rest of the starting 5 with size and defense?

Since Utah has made everyone available, what about this as a plan B? Three team -- LA, Indy, Jazz

LA trades: Russ, THT, Nunn, Gabriel, two first rounders, 2 second rounders
LA gets: Conley, Hield, Gay, Bogdanovic

Jazz trade: Conley, Gay, Bogdanovic, 1 second rounder
Jazz get: Russ, 2 first round picks, 1 LA 2nd

    Indy trades: Hield
Indy gets: THT, Nunn, Gabriel, 1 LA 2nd, 1 Jazz 2nd

We bring Augustin back and have this to work with:
    Bryant/Jones
    AD/Gay/Stan
    Bron/Bogdanovic/Brown
    Hield/Walker/Christie
    Conley/Reaves/Augustin

I like what you’re trying to do, add shooting and some wings and sure up the PG spot with Russ gone.

But Conley was done a while back, Hield is overpaid and I don’t understand our FO’s obsession with him since frankly he is a neutral player at best. Bogdanovic is nice, but he is also going to be 34 next year and his best days are probably behind him. Rudy Gay is 36, so you can just bring back Melo for much of the same.

I’d much rather trade THT, Gabriel and a 1st for a wing. Then look to see if we can get a Kyrie + Harris/Curry deal for Russ and a 1st. If not I’m still happy to roll with:

    Russ/Nunn
    New Wing/Reaves/Walker
    Lebron/Brown/Stan
    AD/JTA/Melo
    Bryant/Jones

They were looking for 1st rounders in the 15-25 range for each Conley and Bogdanovic during the draft, so we should be able to protect them fairly heavily. Top 20 that easily convert to 2nd rounders.

Conley isn't a spring chicken and misses games, but in two of the past 4 he's played at least 70. I don't think he's done and still fits the mold of what Bron is looking for in a PG. Bron handles it enough that Conley doesn't have to be Memphis Conley. He's a very smart floor general and is an upgrade over Russ.

I agree on Hield, but the Lakers...Rob disagrees. I feel as though any backup plan almost has to include him. But he does address the shooting even if he's streaky, a 1 trick pony, and probably overpaid.

I think Bogdanovic ages like wine. His game is not predicated on athleticism. He's a high usage player for the Jazz and there's barely any signs of decline (3 ball was down just a tick last year). He's the exact type of player that a contending team needs.

Gay is just checking the box for big wing, something we still need. I like Melo better and he's a better shooter but Gay can defend better. Not worried about the age of Bogdanovic or Gay, we just had the youngest batch of FA signings in the entire league. A little age and leadership to balance that would be preferential.

I would prefer Kyrie as well, that's why this is a backup plan for me.

And no to running it back. That ship was set ablaze Friday at summer league. Bron and Russ are over.

I think they’re able to get it done for some combination of Quickley, Grimes, Toppin and a bunch of picks. If Randle can bounce back a bit, Brunson/Mitchell/Barrett/Randle/Robinson is a pretty decent lineup that I could see being a 5 or 6 seed in the East.

I don’t mind this as a backup plan as long as you mentioned we have solid protections on those picks. I have a feeling the Lakers will be bad in 2027 and 2029 lol.

I also agree with you on the premise that Conley is the type of point guard that fits well along Lebron. He’s a better version of Patty Mills, and comparable to Kyle Lowry where they can defend the perimeter, hit open shots, and be a secondary shot creator for the team when Lebron doesn’t have the ball.

The other players involved I would argue it might be better to try to get younger and more athletic. I don’t mind Bogdanovic, he’s on a expiring contract and is a credible 3 point threat. I know he’s smaller but I’d see if we can get Malik Beasely included somehow. He’s a comparable player to Malik Monk lol.

I like @JSM 's idea of looking at Utah to unload Russ if the Kyrie trade fails and if they trade Mitchell. Russ is a huge expiring for them and they have a couple bad contracts. Though we would be dealing with Ainge and he would probably want both the '27 and '29 frp.

Conley would be the main player in the trade with 2 years ~$24m per left on his contract.
Probably also Beverley since it's been reported we're interested. He's at $13m/1 year.

That leaves these players to make up the rest of the trade
    Bojan - $19m
    Clarkson - $13m 2 yr, player option
    Beasley - $15m 2 yr, team option
    Gay - $6m 2 yr, player option
    NAW - $5m

Beasley or Bojan would be the shooting we need. JC is instant offense. Gay would be the big wing we need. NAW is pretty much Lonnie Walker with slightly more defense, less athleticsm.

Westbrook, THT, Nunn '27 frp for Conley, Beverley, Beasley, Gay?
