I'll start by saying I think we have a higher ceiling and better chance at a 'ship with Kyrie. BUT I prefer Turner because he's not a headcase. I think Turner is the best big man fit next to AD out of any player you'd ever be able to get (not going to be able to get an Embiid, Joker, Giannis or KAT). If that is a legit fallback offer, that's a damn good one and a safer one...even with injury risks.

I think the depth we would have up front would make us a nightmare because they can all move really well. AD would never have to play C. Like ever. We have enough bodies to keep everyone's minutes low, which is huge given that AD, Turner, and Bryant have an injury history and Jones isn't built for huge minutes (yet?). You have two top 5 defensive bigs -- AD, Turner. Two spacers -- Turner and Bryant (we'll see if AD can find his shot). Length and speed. It would mean that 2/3 of AD/Turner/Bron can play free safety a lot on D. Roam and recover.

This is so dumb. Sure it brings in money for the teams, the league and the media but no star is going to want to play in meaningless games with the chance of injurying themselves.

it's not a meaningless game, it will probably be a fun to watch minor trophy.

every major european sport has it, and it works because elimination games are fun, as are trophies decided by one game as you can see by the popularity of the superbowl.

Do the teams win anything if they win the tournament?

I would be intrigued if they made like two extra first round picks… something like there’s actually 32 first round draft picks every year. The winner of the tournament gets one at pick #17 (1st non lotto pick) for the tournament winner and the second place winner gets the 32nd pick in the draft.

… that would kind of be fun, give teams incentive to not completely tank because this would be mid-season, and imagine the trades that can happen if a team wants to trade the pick they won away lol.

This, I’m honestly not sure I even wait around for Kyrie if this deal is a legit on the table one. If Lebron bolts this off-season because of it, oh well, we’ll have AD, Turner, and Hield and would still be fun to watch and could build from there.

The Superbowl is the final game of the NFL season though, the game for all the marbles.

This tournament is midseason and the reward is what? Rumor has it each player gets $1mil, that doesn’t sound fun or highstakes, especially if the stars sit out.

I think Jeanie and Rob need to let this play out and not wilt. You are doing all this for a player who doesn't give two s***s about you and a player who MIGHT come through if he wants to.

The reported alternative is for an injury prone center and a one dimensional player.

At some point you tell both to eat it and go forward with the season.

The Lakers at least have a prime Anthony Davis. Build around him after 2023 or if he decides he wants to be traded next summer, you can get a good haul for him.

I'm done supporting Lebron James or anything he does. Kyrie Irving is Westbrook with a jumper at this point. Dont want either one and I'm tired of not liking Lakers players.

Between 1992-1996, when knowledgeable Lakers fans knew those teams weren't title contenders, we still loved how hard Sedale Threatt, Nicky V, Vlade, Cedric played. Between 2005-2007, we still had Kobe and Lamar and Caron Butler playing for the Lakers and we at least felt like they were doing all they could to play well and represent the Lakers.

Even Anthony Davis has amazing qualities. He's smart, well spoken and knows who he is without being abrasive or passive aggressive with it. Just need him to be healthy and he can be a force for at least another 5 years.

I'm at my wits end as of today. Just let the season player out, let Westbrook rot on the bench and let the young guys learn and play fundamental ball. End the stupid garbage with malcontent pig players.

re: Tournament -- what do they get for winning? I love the idea about extra pick(s), would be great and fun to watch then.
re: Turner -- with our luck, him and AD would play about 17 games together. :(

Has there been any credible sources leaking the possibility of Indy even wanting anything we have for Turner? Last thing I heard regarding this was that it was a rumor leaked by the Lakers to get Marks moving on the Kyrie deal.

Our attempt to get something done with Indy was a fairly well-published failure.

As nuts as it sounds, I would have much preferred a Brogdon/Hield/Turner for Westbrook/THT and give up both picks for that trio. A trade like that basically would fill our starting lineup with 2 All-NBA caliber players, 1 borderline all star (Turner), and 2 quality starters who can hold their own night in and night out.

The reason why I prefer this over giving up 2 picks for Kyrie (especially had Brogdon still been involved), is because you diversify your team and have more depth this way. Turner/Brogdon/AD/Lebron are admittedly all injury prone these days, but as long as 1 of AD/Lebron is available, you have the depth to be competitive throughout the season.

We could also think of it from the standpoint of how we basically converted Kuzma/KcP/Harrell to 1 year of Westbrook, who then turned into the pacers trio and it’s a definite upgrade.

Having said that, I am willing to bet the Lakers/Pacers did have a trade conversation revolving around this trade framework but one of the parties declined (I’m betting the Lakers, who would have been reluctant to give up both picks).

Indiana gladly then gifted Brogdon to Boston for 1 pick, and in their minds they think they can now offload Hield/Turner for a pick or two as well. So from Indiana’s standpoint, they will end up getting 2-3 first round picks by offloading these 3 players in separate trades over the summer.

It's more a hope because of the circumstance. There is nothing left but hope at this point.

I think we should hang the Nets out to dry and if there really was other trade talks that had substance, go make those happen and work with what you have. IF Westbrook is still there, so be it. If he isn’t, also fine.

I mean, maybe the guy will play with a chip on his shoulder with all the crap LeBron put him through, either way….the Nets want the world because of Gobert, and they aren’t going to get that for either, despite how “good” they are. So let’s stop running in circles, add more people that we can, trade, and go to training camp.

I want to believe in Ham and see him make things happen, whoever is on the team. If people don’t resign or extend or whatever, that means we have MORE options next year, and that’s great.

Are the Wolves still looking to trade Russell? Or has that changed now that they got Gobert? Maybe we could replenish them with a draft pick?
