That’s what makes it a low risk, high reward signing right? He has shown the ability to play at that level, if he can get healthy again, he will out perform his contract greatly and that’s how you get value out of a vet minimum/mMLE.

I don’t want to load too much blame on Walker since it’s not his fault. But in comparison he hasn’t shown the ability to play at that level.

We only really had three options to improve tangibly; a Westbrook trade which I thought unlikely (until an absolute fluke at the Nets), a trade for THT which I thought was possible to probable (especially when pairing with a first) and the mMLE which was a must hit for me as a way to get a productive piece earning above the minimum.

I don’t think I’ve ever said we were going to sign any unrealistic targets, but I understand your point about the fan base. My targets for the TPMLE/minimum were players like TJ, Oladipo, Ingles, OPJ, House, Hartenstein, Jones, Bryant, Gallinari, Toscano, Batum, Monk, Mo Bamba, Bruce Brown, GP2 etc

Granted a few signed for 10 or 11 per, but most were close to the TPMLE or below it. I think we filled out our big rotation about as well as we could have with Bryant and Jones (outside of a trade for Lopez or Turner).

It’s disappointing we couldn’t get one wing piece with our TPMLE and to see some of them go for that is frustrating when it looks like we picked poorly. Also to your point about Warren blowing up and leaving, I was hoping to let Westbrook expire and have about 20-24m in cap space to resign Warren if he returned to pre injury levels.

    Realistic options?

    Melo
    Swider
    Ellington
    Bo Cruz (Hernangomez)
    Caleb Martin (RFA)

Can’t think of anyone else off the top of my head.

Bryant was my choice as well, so we are set at the 5 now after also signing Damian Jones.

Now Pelinka has to do what he already said which is find shooting in trade and hopefully a wing.

Personally, I still think the Irving/Curry for Westbrook and THT for Washington deals are the best ones to be made....

These are the type of moves we needed at the min, has been pretty good prior to injury and now a full year recovered hopefully he can get back closer to where he was prior because that helps us close the talent gap with other teams/

Bron also caused us to sign, Russell Westbrook. Plus half of our roster is Klutch. We’ve done more than enough for Lebron and company.

We will see what Pelinka can do now, because the FA market is pretty dried up- so the rest of the roster building and finalizing will have to be by trade....

Personally, I like the Hornets and obviously the Nets as my two targets. I still think it is more likely than not that Charlotte gets Bridges back into the fold once more clarity on his arrest come through and calms down some, and I think that makes PJ Washington available. They reportedly want another guard to put with the Ball/Rozier mix and I would send a 2023 2nd and THT to them and also try and pry Jalen McDaniels from them...

Lakers trade G Talen Horton-Tucker and a 2023 2nd round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for F's PJ Washington and Jalen McDaniels

Then of course you have the Kyrie Irving trade, which let's be honest is the true measure of how we can rate this offseason.

Lakers trade G Russell Westbrook and a 2027 1st round pick (and a swap option for the 2029 1st round pick) to the Brooklyn Nets for G's Kyrie Irving and Seth Curry. They also get Irving to waive his $5.5 million trade kicker to seal the deal...

Ideal Final 2022-23 Los Angeles Lakers Roster:
    SF LeBron James
    PF PJ Washington
    C Anthony Davis
    SG Seth Curry
    PG Kyrie Irving

    SF Juan Toscano-Anderson
    PF Stanley Johnson
    C Thomas Bryant
    SG Austin Reaves
    PG Kendrick Nunn

    F Jalen McDaniels
    F Troy Brown Jr.
    C Damian Jones
    G Lonnie Walker
    F Max Christie (R)

in fairness, we really only have two pgs on the roster, and one missed the entirety of last year with a mystery injury (and is only half a pg). we do have a lot of sgs, just like last year. and that worked out great!

So, in the last 5-6 days, we've seen what the Nets are asking for and what the Lakers are probably offering...

And even taking Harris back is a risk on our end.

I really want no part of Bledsoe. He is not a good defender and has never been a good shooter.

I just as soon keep Nunn, even with his never healing bone bruise
