Well actually, if the Nets were to get Mitchell, they would have to be sending out Simmons as part of the deal as well.

    Explained why here: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...imit-which-players-the-nets-can-deal-for/amp/

Mitchell and Russ together in the backcourt is definitely more doable than Mitchell, Russ AND Simmons all on the court together.

Reading comments from Suns fans right now and they’re pretty confident in this Flex guy

You have this thing with champions, I know you’ve overrated KCP and Kuzma as “champions”. Every year there are 14 champions. But not every one of those players is equal in their value.

This year GSW won it. That doesn’t make Klay, Dray and Wiggins some amazing players. Steph got them to the show and is the crux of the whole thing. Same way at the Cavs, the grand majority of the praise goes to Lebron, because before and after him Irving and Love couldn’t do anything - regardless if they had super teams or not.

So I’m not disrespecting Irving. Great player, great fit. But if we’re gonna have any chance of a championship, it’s because Lebron is a top 5 player in the playoffs and AD goes DPOY mode.

You made a good point that Kyrie doesn't win that ring without LeBron, but it's also true that LeBron doesn't win that ring without Kyrie going off in the Finals. They needed each other.

Kyrie is insanely talented on offense. But he's a headcase. What kind of "teammate" does what he did to his team last year?

    No.

But if he comes here? Hey, suddenly I'm his biggest fan. My middle name is Fickle if we start winning again.

However, build me a Top 5 Defensive Team and let's worry about scoring later. All I want is a team that plays D. Last year was a friggin' NIGHTMARE!!!

Well I guess you disagree with literally every NBA insider. If a 3rd team doesn't enter the picture in a separate from KD deal to put some pieces in place that BRK is ok with they may just not move or deal elsewhere.

Time, I totally agree with you. I'm not trying to claim otherwise. I am saying no one should expect Kyrie to carry us through a season and the playoffs. He is a great piece that can push us over the top.

Buck Foston! They make yet another trade where they get a legit player for scrubs. What's going on there? After White, now Brogdon? They literally gave up 0 key rotation players, doesn't make any sense.

And we can't get jack with THT and Nunn.

If Reaves goes for Kyrie, I'm pissed

The Lakers did a terrible job at closing out quarters, Kyrie will help out in that department giving them someone who can take over on offense, he has more of the mamba mentality, who can shoot unlike brick.

    1. Kevin Durant, Brooklyn
    2. LeBron James, LA Lakers
    3. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee
    4. Nikola Jokic, Denver
    5. Joel Embiid, Philadelphia
    6. Stephen Curry, Golden State
    7. Luca Doncic, Dallas
    8. Kawhil Leonard, LA Clippers

    10. Damian Lillard, Portland
    11. Anthony Davis, LA Lakers
    12. Jayson Tatum, Boston
    13. Devin Booker, Phoenix
    14. Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn
    15. Trae Young, Atlanta

There are some up an coming stars (Ball, Edwards, Cummingham, etc) but I can't put any of those right now over Kyrie Irving. Same with just missed Donovan Mitchell, Jaylen Brown and even James Harden, who has fallen immensely the last two seasons. Bradley Beal is about the only guy who came close to the top 15 above...so yes Kyrie Irving is definitely a Top 20 player in NBA and I actually have him in my Top 15.

Too many missed games is the only reason he isn't in top 10, because his numbers would clearly have him there.

Ugh he was my choice to use the MLE on. I read part of his decision was based on his wife is from Toronto, but I have to think that if the Lakers didn’t have the stigma of being a dumpster fire we could have had him

The wife wanting Toronto could have been big. Then again the wife having a whole lot more money coming in from Hubby could have been too.

Regardless of what happens with Kyrie, I would still try to see if we can get Schroder and TJ Warren (no basketball in 2 years and all) for the vet minimum.

Seems like the plan is to try to use our vet minimum spots for younger players that can outperform their contracts. I think both Shroder and Warren can do that. With our luck at point guard, we need insurance there so Schroder makes sense and I would love him for the minimum. He actually was also a decent fit around AD/Bron. TJ will outperform a vet minimum as long as he’s healthy…. And boy, if he goes back to his form pre-injury, it’s a absolute steal and home run for the Lakers
