Don’t think so. Would have been reported and talked about. Maybe don’t find out until draft night.

 

We have an empty roster. I think you can safely say they'll all three be back. ESPECIALLY considering they were often the only three who showed a modicum of give-a-f*** last season and we need all of that we can get.

 

I swear, if they botch AR's contract...

 

Or Johnson. Even Gabriel should be kept around unless they have someone better that gives them what he does, and should be able to improve upon.

Reaves already has a contract with a team option.

 

i mean...stan and austin are no-brainers. i could see us getting lucky on the FA market and finding someone to bump gabriel from the roster, i guess.

Watching Rob’s press conference, I actually felt there was a large emphasis from him on player development, getting younger, preparing this franchise for the future.

So I’m not worried about them not finalizing the decision on the team options yet, I think it’s a formality at this point. Is it even common practice around the league to officially accept team options before the deadline?

And I hate to bring up this word again that was flaunted prior to the deadline as an excuse for waiting so long to give Stanley a full deal, but “flexibility” genuinely is important at this juncture of the season. Rob specifically mentioned the possibility of other transactions being a factor in their timing on the team options.

I know we have plenty of open roster spots, but it still isn’t always a good decision to lock up a team option while we’re presumably seeking some trade scenarios.

For example, what if there is a Russ trade on the table that would also bring back a role player who fills Wenyen’s role, but better? What if unexpectedly we get word of a sign and trade opportunity that will be too good to pass up, but Wenyen’s contract ends up pushing us over the edge in terms of making it feasible to work under the hard cap?

 

I think Rob is taking back control, and I think he's going to do a fine job of balancing competing now with developing for the future.

I do think Westbrook was a major faux pas, but I think he has learned from that, and with Kurt Rambis' guidance, I feel like we are in good hands.
