Grant, Wood..both went for peanuts. Rob should have held on to one of those first round picks, he so freely gave up to New Orleans for AD. After AD'S dad killed the Boston idea, it's not like we were getting outbid anyway. I digress..

Good players getting traded for next to nothing… pretty sure it would have taken us multiple picks and a first born to get it done

Portland did have some kind of trade exception from the CJ trade I believe. Detroit has a ton of cap space now..43 million

There was no way in hell we would've got the same deals as those teams, there's always a Lakers tax. Just look at the memphis trade and how teams, personal and "analysts" destroyed Memphis for giving us a "good" deal. No team or GM wants to get slaughtered the way Chris Wallace was, nevermind the fact that in 2 years Memphis was back in the playoffs and went further in the playoffs, then even the "god" Jerry West took them when he was their GM.

Also Jerami Grant said he didn't want to play in LA with Lebron for some reason. Prolly too much pressure for him.

And they still have free 7th pick everyone thought they'd have to give up to go get Grant. Now they can either trade to get Dame another vet or take best big available at 7.

Detroit is now sitting on $43m-$47m (depending on who's math you believe) that they'll use poorly. They can get up to $56m-$57m, depending on what they do with their cap holds.

yeah, no. we underpaid for AD. we'd have had no shot had he not played hardball.

We didn't underpay for him, but I can't complain about winning a chip at all. AD was going to play hardball at some point, the moment Lebron made his locker room spiel IMO. New Orleans made noise but who were they going to trade him to? Besides Boston, I don't really remember the other offers.

Come on man, don’t post fakes here. We don’t have a 2024 or 2026 pick, Melo isn’t under contact to be traded, and Russ hasn’t opted in to be traded.

nobody bid because nobody could. we still had to empty our pockets else it wouldn't have happened out of spite (see PG to okc). this is ridiculous. we spent less on AD than the clips did on PG (after we made the mistake of underbidding there to make it all possible).

I'm glad we never got Paul George, I was never a fan of that guy in the first place. We could have got AD for at least one less 1st IMO, but again we did what we did and have a chip to show for it.

the value of picks continues to be unreal if a #7 pick can get you one of the Top 5 3&D players in the league. Only 24 as well.
