Count me in as one of those, scouting is easy!

    • Step 1: Follow Cranjis on Twitter
    • Step 2: Treat his word as gospel
    • Step 3: Act holier than thou

i just can't imagine traveling all over (often to places you don't want to go) and just living basketball all day. but i'm sure some folks can. and maybe when i was 23, i would have thought differently.

fwiw, my friend said the scout he met (an older guy) seemed to truly love it. said he seemed thrilled to talk hoops with a random stranger on the plane about it.

What was that Clint Eastwood film about baseball talent scouting, looks like a job you need decades of experience for to qualify. I think it’s a 24/7 job, too

Sounds like Bertka, who was doing scout work into his 90s.

It took a reach with the suspension of disbelief for ole Clint out there basically blind at the end, yet able to still scout aspects of the game by his ears. If remembering correctly.

True. Not much different than picking race horses when you get right down to it.

I feel like maybe our scouts are just in the wrong areas I know they move around yearly but there has to be a reason why we always draft overseas players and never ever see them in our unis

You say we always draft overseas players, but never see them in our unis. I don't feel like that represents our recent history at all. From most recent to oldest in the last nearly 20 years.

    • Svi (Played for us, still in the league)
    • Bonga (Played for us, still in the league)
    • Moe Wagner (Played for us, still in the league)
    • Zubac (Played for us, still in the league)
    • Sacre (Played for us)
    • Ater Majok
    • Chuk@$@^&@!! (2011, don't know the story on this guy, but traded to Denver)
    • Gasol (Traded for his brother, eventually played for us)
    • Sun Yue, didn't cut it in the big leagues
    • Cheikh Samb (Traded)
    • Turiaf (Played for us)
    • Sasha (Played for us)
Maybe this is one of those things where maybe it felt like that for some reason, but we don't seem to have spent picks on overseas talent hoping they'd sign one day. The only one that looks like it could have happened like that was Ater Majok, and I just don't remember enough about him to say otherwise. That's 1 guy in nearly 20 years though.
