It might be better for the future of the team, but for right now, he’s the cash cow

    it matters

Yup- she’s in it for the short term money, not the basketball reasons.

That’s unfair and not true. She simply does not have a Ballmer’s deep pockets, and no drum beat here is going to force her to sell her father’s team. Like it as a fan or not.

Not to mention all the revenue that was lost in 2020 with the interrupted season when we were rolling and then no fans for the Bubble and extremely limited fan capacity the next season until late near playoffs. Time Warner contract or not. Plus agreed to bring in the 3rd, most expensive max guy to the payroll to take the shot she was told gave them a great chance. Doesn’t care about winning ….? No.

I agree that she does care about winning because she wants to honor her father’s legacy. My issue is not her motives but her judgment. Leaning on the Rambii, Phil and Magic for the basketball decisions is a huge issue going forward.

I know all teams probably do things like this that just doesn’t get reported, work out random players who never got a chance or have fallen out of the league and are trying to comeback. See if maybe you get lucky and find a diamond in the rough.

But man that is a depressing list of players to consider. I hope we’re just doing our due diligence and not actually having to scrape the bottom of the barrel like this to fill out our roster.

Definitely due diligence. Scouting staff works their a**es off all year and their record shows it pays off. So it’s incumbent on the FO and coaching staff to check out in person all their recommendations for auditions.

    That’s my opinion.
It’s not TRUE or FALSE. It’s my OPINION.
It’s a FACT that Father Time is undefeated and LeBron is not a machine. He can no longer carry a team to a Championship. It’s just unrealistic to pretend that he can. He’s here so that he can break records in a Laker uniform, showing all who care that the Laker brand is still viable.
He’s also here so that she can continue to put out the narrative that “We take care of our stars here in Lakerland, even when they are past their prime.” This is completely separate from building a winning TEAM. This is not “drum beating.” This is my opinion, based on plenty of real world evidence, and you don’t have to agree with it.

I don't have a clue. I mean no disrespect to any of those guys, but I really don't know who they are.

galloway's been around for a while and had a couple good stints, but he's older now and hasn't played very well in a few years.

feel like dj wilson may have been a 1st rounder a few years ago. ok i checked, he was drafted 17th by milwaukee out of michigan in 2017, and i remember him now. he got traded to houston, didn't get his rookie extension, then bounced around the g-league and call-ups last year. energy big. he's only 25, and i feel like he played ok at times.

i'd heard of alize johnson but didn't know anything about him. turns out he was a second rounder in 2018 who has bounced around.

wilson seems like the only one who might show up in camp.

definitely looking for some more johnsons and gabriels, which is good.

Galloway's the only guy who had legit minutes in the league, in the Knicks I guess.
Kyle Guy is a pure scorer

The other abeer already shared info. Just don't know that King guy. Alize rings a bell, I think he's a forward.

I like this, a lot of times it's a matter of context and we can always find another serviceable gem

i think king's a legit-sized wing who's had a cup of coffee in sacramento (guy is a small white guy who's done same).

The drum beating for her to sell the team really wasn’t directed at your last post. I expected maybe to hear it back from anyone as has often been said here (don’t recall if it includes you) because I said she simply doesn’t have the deep pockets of a Ballmer. In my opinion you only listing those reasons, and implying that winning again this season, or a following season if LeBron extends while he no longer may be able to lead a team to a championship predominately on his own (of course since he’s old, as was Kareem still in the competitive mix even 2 years older but still a force, as is LeBron) …. is not also what Jeanie is about …. is unfair and not true. It is understood that was your opinion. Just gave mine back that is also supported by real world facts pertaining to what Jeanie has agreed to spend over the recent years and will again to the team’s ability to bring in new personnel to try to make it work with LeBron while he’s still a top 20 or whatever player and still has AD as a running mate …. to win another championship.
