Exactly. I notice I haven’t really heard anyone saying you have to use draft picks to get rid of John Wall whose contract is just as big and he hasn’t played in a year.

It’s because everyone likes hating on the lakers and our fans are pessimistic unless we just won the championship yesterday.

There is a big difference between being a fan of Magic the player (which I am a huge fan of) and Magic the basketball executive (who I am an extreme opponent of). That trade was a head-scratcher. We also sent out Beasley and brought in Muscala, clearing a roster spot.

Initially, the thought was "oh boy, Magic must have his eye on something big in the buyout market" then nothing materialized in the buyout market and articles started appearing with Jerry West and the Clips FO laughing hysterically at us.

    Me too!!!!
Magic was the reason I fell in love with the game.
It’s too bad he was just soooooo bad at talent evaluation and team building.

I think some of our fans are very knowledgeable basketball heads.
They realize just how hard it is to build a Championship Level Team and are still having a hard time dealing with the fact that our FO inexplicably decided to over think things and tear the winning group apart. Part of being a loyal fan for decades and decades is having the ability and right to call out boneheaded moves when they are made- especially ones that seem so obvious to most that they won’t work out.
I, like many others, just want a Laker Squad we can root for again. One that actually tries hard, plays together as a team and places their individual egos and agendas aside for the betterment of the team.
I really don’t think that’s too much to ask for.

Tatum couldn't scream any louder than he has made respect for Kobe and wants to follow his footsteps to be a Laker one day.

Sooner Lebron gets his record the sooner they can trade him and start building a core of young players/assets for a Tatum free agency in 2025.

yeah...not too sure I like this cross-breeding and intermingling of C-Bags and Lakers. Much as I like Tatum. Rondo was enough for this generation.

Well, Rick Fox was a great Laker and an ex-C bag. I worry more about ex-Lakers who go on to be great C Bags. Not so much the other way around.

No Monk? Not ideal. I like some of the other ideas. I’m not sold that Porter is better than Monk at the MLE.

Also assuming Nunn has recovered and can actually play I try to keep him out of that THT for Wood trade which I’m in favor of.

I think he’s being pretty realistic in the fact that Monk will get several lucrative offers that we won’t come close to being able to match.
He’ll take the money. I would- wouldn’t you?
He could tear anything game one of next season and never be the same again. It’s not fun to think about, but it’s a part of reality.

I have Porter as my highest ranked FA for us. He checks more boxes than any other realistic FA -- size, D (switchability), 3, and age. If you get that Indy deal (or Charlotte), Monk doesn't have a spot. Other than our mid level, we have very limited means to address our wing defender need. If you don't get one with the mid level and don't get one in a Russ deal, you have to find one with the THT + Nunn package.

Honestly if we have the team that Lane built above, I start AR at SG and have Buddy as a high usage 6th man (don't think you can close with him every night). In that scenario, there's really no room for Monk.
