Cool! But damn why not Johnson over Ariza?? They have big wings. Let the kid play and not have a short hook for rough spots.
:Vogelheaving: Frank just trying to make sure he secures the record for most lineups used. Or he really likes April Fools Day
There's 240 minutes to split each game. Lebron and AD get 70 together. Monk, Reaves and Stan should get 75 together Gabriel, Howard and maybe Melo could get 35 together. Maybe more 10 to Augustin. That leaves only 50 minutes that we can get with either Russ or THT, most likely in the 1 and 5 position. These 2 account for 60M so we could get really good value in return. New guy / Augustin Monk / Reaves LeBron / Stan AD / Melo / Gabriel New guy / Howard I think we can easily put together a good team. I'm not sold on Melo and would rather sign the likes of Whiteside and/or Covington in FA. Would also try to snap Ingles too, I think he's underrated at the moment. But even if we don't do it, we can still put together a good team. Monk, Reaves, Stan and Gabriel give us a reliable core that don't cost much
Don't want Melo or Howard back. I would trade 1 of Nunn and or Talen; Gabriel is too raw to get any significant minutes on a contending team. Wouldn't be surprised to go after a Cam Reddish and 1-2 more wings.
I want Melo and Dwight back for continuity reasons with that caveat that they are the 13/14 man. Too much roster turnover these past years.
I want to get younger. Melo can't defend. Unless he's shooting lights out, he's a net negative. I would entertain Dwight but we need another youthful big man.
i think i said the other day i wanted both back as 13/14 men, but i do get the idea that having melo is dangerous for a coach. it's really tempting to put him to get buckets even though he just kills your defense. and i also don't know if he's willing to accept dnp-cds for half the games or more (because that's his appropriate usage now). so it's tough. if he gets an offer elsewhere, i wouldn't fight to keep him. dwight is similar but a) is already accustomed to dnp-cds and b) isn't best buddies with lebron and AD (so benching him won't ruffle locker room feathers). also, i think every team needs at least one really big/strong guy for situational matchups/enforcing, and it's great when they're vets. so, i'd try to lock him up fast to another vet min.
Letting Damian Jones go to get Drummond just killed our season then. Small things that destroyed chemistry.
Things I want to see us add this offseason: - Retain Monk, Johnson, Reaves, Gabriel, Dwight. - a two way guard at least 6’5 to play alongside Monk (if we can keep him). - an athletic big that can play 4/5 alongside AD, that can do some similar things as AD but not quite on his level (Christian Wood, Marvin Bagley). - an athletic wing capable of defending 2/3 and occasionally a 4. I’m also open to adding Melo AFTER our main roster objectives are met first.
i'd take both, tbh. start jones and play him 15-20 mpg. all other center minutes are AD and lebron, unless the other team has a steven adams type that plays 30mpg. in which case, dwight plays that night. agree mostly here. i'd argue that i can squint and see THT filling a couple of those roles (two-way guard/athletic wing) partially, assuming we get a pg who can shoot and play 30mpg.
I wouldn’t be overly opposed to a THT/Monk backcourt IF THT can become a more competent shooter. However, I’d rather trade him for a AD-lite type big like Christian Wood or Marvin Bagley. That way we have an insurance policy in the event that AD likely misses time due to injury. I’m really sold on pairing AD with an interchangeable version of him in the starting lineup. Let them trade off on opposing 4/5’s depending on the matchup.
Monk, Reaves & Tucker are the guys I hope stay around,. Wouldn't mind losing any 2 of the "Big 3", depending on what pieces we got back.. Complete rebuild.
