Fun, sure. Who is our all star BIG man defender though? The small ball crap fetish is always a twisted ankle away, or clobbered in the key and knocked out of the air onto the back of their neck like Curry was, from not being so good any more. Westbrook high risk. Okafor look at his freaking legs and mass and the type of game he much more safely plays.

Watching those Russell videos got me thinking hmmmm.....guy can shoot, had some NICE dishes...a backcourt of Russell and Clarkson could be very very intriguing. I'm just wondering with this report if the FO is really locked in on a big through FA especially with Aldridge and Love opting out. They must feel really confident they can land someone.

Or as most said, could be mind games. Man this is nuts

No, not when Okafor is dazzling with his willing passing as well, when, not if, doubled which he has to be. The ball flying around finds energy. That was a famous quote from "someone".

Ever since Monday when I was pretty much universally reading that we were locked in on Okafor ("80-20 taking him", etc.), I was just WAITING for all the Russell rumors to blow up leading up to the draft. Why not try to squeeze the hell out of Philly to see if we can trade spots, get our pick in next year's draft back, and still get the guy we want?

Now, I'll qualify that by saying that I'm quite enamored with Russell's game as well. Watching those clips of a confident lefty guard with a sweet J & good playmaking skills is reminding me of a much bigger/much better Nick Van Exel. He could be a bigger Chris Paul in a few years, to be sure.

Honestly, I just trust Mitch. The Lakers are going to get "their guy" at #2. If it's Okafor or Russell, I truly believe they'll be 100% confident of their pick by the time they turn their card in tonight.

I hear you man, and like I said, I would still take Okafor. But, keep in mind that GSW did just win a ring with 6'8" Draymond Green playing center in their last three games. LMA + Randle would not exactly be pushovers out there. You keep Tarik off the bench and convince Ed Davis to re-up and you have two solid bigs to back them up.

I sure hope Draymond Green and Nick Van Exel have bright futures. Oh, I mean Randle and Russell. :)

In all fairness who is our big time defender with Okafor?

Yeah to me this all still smells like Mitch trying to sniff out a trade up from Philly. Another train of thought: Lakers love Okafor then on DRAFT DAY they suddenly love Russell. MINUTES LATER Boston is apparently willing to sell the farm for #3 to get Okafor. Meaning: Philly won't move up to get Russell if the Lakers pass on Okafor. They'll just take Boston's farm and let the Lakers sit with Russell.

SOMEONE is bluffing. I think it's the Lakers.

LMA / Randle / Kobe / JC / Russell is also a potentially perfectly balanced offensive team.

Don't make this complicated. The easy pick is the smart pick. Don't get cute.

Draft Okafor at 2 and be happy.

For the record, at this point I still think Okafor has the edge. I wouldn't be shocked if we picked Russell though.

Yep. Great mix of range & inside-outside balance. How's LMA's defense? Any shot-blocking ability there?

There is NO doubt in my mind that some deep and serious mind games are being played through the media today.

They'd be awful defensively too, but hey so would the other proposal of JC/Kobe/Randle/Aldridge/Okafor lol so who cares?

All I know is our team is improving after today no matter what!

I disagree. After Kobe retires, yes. But Kobe is gonna have the ball in his hand 50% of the time. What are Jordan and Russell gonna be doing? Randle is an unknown (who I like, but still an unknown). We'll be leaning heavily on LMA and Kobe and honestly, I don't see Kobe playing more than 55 games.

JC/Kobe/Randle/Aldridge/Okafor would be a BIG BALL lineup.
