I didn’t know where to put this take, so it’s going in here
I’m giving the Warriors scouting department some credit. Kuminga is a real talent and should have a very productive NBA career.

Sooo...on a national stage, Lakers go up 14 early, fall down by 14, rally...and flipped the switch: they didn't blow the comeback! Largely due to that #23 guy (sorry!: now #6) and his 56. But hidden under the stats: Austin emm effing Reaves, ladies 'n germs: playing killer D, skying for offensive boards/2nd chances, just playing smart. Love this kid! Thrilling win.

Also: I've watched every minute of every game this year - call me a masochist - and the win over GSW can only mean we lose by 27 in Houston, right? Right?

I’ve watched every game except Friday 2 nights ago against Clippers. Knew what the outcome would be and now too painful. Went down the YouTube rabbit hole instead while patting myself on the back following the game score.

Jordan Poole too. Don’t know if he was drafted or came in a trade though.

warriors are the best organization in the nba right now, imo. i think toronto's close, but they're basically in a league of their own with the huge advantage in ownership money.

kuminga was the #7 overall pick, right? so it's not like a super duper home run, but most picks even that high disappoint, so it's great. but they've had a ton of success later in the draft (poole, looney) and on the scrapheap (toscano anderson). curious to see how wiseman and moody turn out given their track record. neither has jumped off the page at me, but they're good at player development, too.

i should have responded seriously, considering i'm always telling people to make actual suggestions instead of whining:

would do. i still don't think he's done much to be super proud of in okc, but he works with what he has pretty well. also, he's used to working for cheap owners.

had i known our stars were going to stop playing defense entirely this year, i would have endorsed this in the summer. he proved he can use westbrook on offense, though i'm not sure AD could have stayed on the team. ultimate decision: still a pass.

nope. anunoby has missed a bunch of time, too, and his ceiling isn't even AD's current floor. i'd need those picks to be fully unprotected (they wouldn't do it) plus another player or two. even then, i'm anti star trade unless you're getting the star.

if they added barnes, i consider it. if was siakam/anunoby/trent/boucher/2 1sts AND they take westbrook with AD, i'm in.

all that said, if you're mad about AD's availability, don't look anunoby and siakam's availability (this is a repeating theme on the MR GLASS front, btw).

i'd do this if we have the funds. but prepare to be a little disappointed. i think his flaws are his flaws, and i think he's operating near ceiling right now. he's worth MLE, but don't expect star production. expect the same inconsistency we've seen.

i can't believe we didn't try this yet. i think the fear is westbrook pouts and sabotages. but my hope has become to stretch/waive him at a lower number (30 million would be my hope) for two years. just get him out.

Are you allowed to stipulate how many years you want to stretch a player for?

Regardless, I think stretching him for several years is a terrible idea. I’m still haunted by the fact we are still paying for the Deng stretch this year.

The other part of this is that even if we stretch Westbrook, we would still be over the cap this summer to make any meaningful signings outside of the MLE.

A realistic option would be to waive/buyout Westbrook instead because it wouldn’t change what we would be able to do cap space wise, but it would be paying him to go away (addition by subtraction; two negatives make a positive).

if we don't stretch him, i'm pretty sure we can't use the MLE this summer. that's the rub. we need to use that, imo.

as far as stipulating the stretch, i'm not sure. most of the verbiage i find seems to imply it's non-negotiable (twice the remaining length + 1), but that just seems silly to me. why couldn't i shave a year off and increase the payment?

    https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2017/12/hoops-rumors-glossary-stretch-provision.html

this part confused me a bit:

i knew the first part. second part isn't relevant.

but the last part-how much flexibility is there in the cap hit? i don't care when the money comes out of the buss's pockets but how it impacts the cap.

anyway, i think getting russ to give some back on the buyout is probably the most important thing.

I’m surprised we didn’t give him a shot, I guess we just like having 80 guards and giving up 139 points
