Yeah, you’re right, Russ will have the most value at next season’s trade deadline. And it may end up making sense to just let him expire.

The difficulty is of course whether or not we can afford to head into next season with him still on the roster.

It’s a bit of a catch 22, because I think if we want to try a last ditch effort to contend around Lebron/AD, you have to move on from Russ ASAP… but he won’t have as high value this summer as he will next trade deadline.

yeah, we're not in a great spot. but we're also not necessarily doomed long term, imo. i wish russ had just shown any signs of life this year, especially down the stretch. he seems to be getting worse.

I definitely think he’s worse now. The vets knowing the team isn’t going anywhere and somehow mailing it in even more than before isn’t helping.

No second half Russ is coming lol

The trade literally has failed on every level.

I wish we had brought more guys up earlier but oh well. I think we should kick the tires on some of our developmental guys too.

This is the epitome of making a move just to make a move so Rob can say,”Hey, I did something after the deadline!”

Problem is AD stays hurt misses alot of games how.mnay has Russ missed? What good does it do us to get rid of a player or plays 80% of the year compared to keeping one who plays 40% of the year due to injuries :ADGlance: feet ankle injurys ain't no joke I've dealt with mine since I was 14 I'm. Now 36 ankles are horrible too. Many bball injuries

    1. Hire Sam Presti as GM

    2. Hire Mike D'Antoni as head coach

    3. Trade AD, THT, and Nunn to Toronto for Abunoby, Trent, 2023 1st, and 2025 1st

    4. Sign Monk with full MLE

    5. Try to convert WB to 6th man energy guy, let him rot on the bench, or let him stay home and let his contract expire.

Lakers now have draft capital and small contracts to work with to further enhance the team. Good young, running team.

PF-Johnson: Has shown he is a keeper. Defensive chops. Size at the 3/4. Has played well in Lebron line up where Lebron is at the 5. Decent shooter for the 4.
SF-Anunoby : Super athletic 24 year old wing player. Measurables similar to THT, but much, much better athlete and shooter. Also, at 6-7 taller than THT.
C-James: Lakers thrived when he played the 5 this season.
PG-Monk: He has shown that he could handle the PG position. AT 6-3, he is better suited here. Adds a shooting dimension to the one that we have not had in a while.
SG-Trent: Prolific shooting 22 year old wing, who is also one of the best at steals and deflections in the NBA. We previously had interest.

Sorry man, you lost me at “Hire Antoni.”
Talk about a coach who may be the worst throughout all of NBA history at adjusting his style of running an offense based on the players he had.
I still can’t stand him- I don’t think I can say that about any other Laker coach that I’ve seen run my beloved team.
