Appreciate the bubble win, thanks mainly to A.D., but LeBron's been an annoying, arrogant, defenseless fool since and playing @ 60% because of injuries/age and only becoming worse. He's lost leads with bad shots/no defense, turnovers, chucking from 40ft, wasting shot clocks and whining at refs for calls instead of playing. Could have overlooked that even if he could have shut up and left the roster alone and stopped making demands. Every time I see Russ brick another layup I blame Lebron.

I don't like him, I never will and he's overstayed his visitors pass. Go flex and wander around calling yourself a king somewhere else grifting for championships off KD or something.

Lebron's Laker tenure has been a colossal failure. Outside of that Bubble ring won under questionable circumstances, this team has been largely not competitive on the court. This will be 3rd out of 4 years to not get out of the first round. 2 out of 4 years probably not making playoffs. Sucks that we are stuck with him.

There's a very real chance the Clippers could be title contenders soon. Embarrassing 0-4 record this year vs them. I believe 0-7 since Dec 2020

Playing in a rec league atmosphere in a comfortable resort, 4 month layoff, no fans , no traveling, no pressure. Ain’t nothing laudable about this Mickey Mouse ring. 3 years of evidence shows that 2020 Playoff run was a fluke. We have mounting evidence and confirmation on our long held suspicions he quits, especially on his teammates when the going gets a little tough. Friggin disgraceful frontrunner.

The 2013-2018 days were ugly but there was a glimmer of hope here and there. We mostly had poor talent but they tried. This Lebron led handpicked squad puts on a Lakers jersey and don’t give a damn. Arrogant spoiled entitled brats taking on the personality of their team leader.

yup i gotta say - LeBron loves to quit when the tough gets tough.

And I also agree that his Laker tenure has been a colossal failure. He got us one bubble chip, but other than that? not making the playoffs, and a first round exit. Also, might not make the playoffs this year either. And also might force himself out of here (hopefully) this summer.

Please go back to Cleveland - sick of this circus man.

every team played under the same circumstances. no pressure? i have a feeling the players felt differently. the only thing the lakers lucked into was getting time off so AD could get healthy, but then again, every team can say the same about their injured players. it was as legit a title as any other this team has won

and not sure how you think it was a fluke given the 2020 team's record going into the bubble. that team was a legit title contender. #1 defensive team in the league, lebron/AD both playing at an MVP level, and timely shooting when they needed it

Regular season Lebron the same as playoff Lebron? How often have we seen him quit? That 2020 team was a contender but I have my doubts they woulda won the whole thing if Clips put some heat on them. Very fortuitous that the likes of Phx, GSW not elite @ that time.

In any case , moving forward we need to trade him plus AD this summer, do a 2-3 year rebuild, acquire stars and get back on track. This divorce needs to happen for Lakers to quickly plan towards become a title contender.

LeBron finishes his contract here and may even sign up for another year. Again, from ticket sales to merchandise LeBron is valuable to the team and I just can't see us trading him.

    Agreed.
However, I agree with the Rock that since he plays no D anymore, and is a huge cry baby on and off the court, he is a terrible leader and example for others to follow.
For basketball reasons, we should let him walk at the end of his contract, but that won’t happen because of business reasons.
This Franchise is in desperate need of new owners who know what they’re doing.

Come on Rock, why would you discount our title like this? Playing in a comfortable resort? They were trapped there, they couldn’t step one foot outside without getting kicked out, they couldn’t see their families, they were there over 100 days. That’s not a comfortable resort stay, that’s some crazy lockdown work environment, they only had eachother.

No pressure? We lost Kobe that year, AD forced his way to LA in an extremely public manner, that team had immense pressure to win it all. That they did for the LA fans and for Kobe was amazing. Every other team there faced the same circumstances and lost. The Clippers in particular absolutely crumbled under the pressure of the bubble, I remember rumors they wanted to vote to leave because they hated it so much, and then as we know they choked up 3-1 on Denver. Had they won the title we’d never hear the end of it though, I absolutely hate the term Mickey Mouse Ring.

That team wasn’t a fluke based on what they’ve done since, that can’t really be when that team has been blown up almost entirely in 2 seasons. That team was a special mix that we got away from, they won with size and athleticism. You had Caruso, KCP, Green, LeBron, Kuz, AD, Dwight, McGee, Morris, THT, and Rondo, Rondo being the smallest guy there at 6’1. That’s major size and defense, that’s how we won. Now we have 6-7 guys 6-4 and under, it’s not a wonder why we get worked so often with that lack of size, it’s part of the inability to play defense and rebound.

I’m not happy with LeBron this season either, mainly for bringing in Russ, but that title counts, it was legit.

You forgot this important part: Guys who were there, were quoted as saying it was the much harder than a regular postseason due to the mental difficulties of that environment.

I remembered, I just didn’t add everything because I felt what I listed was enough. I could also add in that playoff Rondo was real that playoffs and it was amazing. I should also say that I don’t think THAT team wins this year. They have aged, you need a little more shooting in there, and teams like the Suns, Warriors, Bucks, and a couple others have improved since then. But you should have still been able to add to the main core there and tried to win with what worked, largely being bigger and stronger than most teams, which is something they did last year. And while that team wasn’t great even taking the injuries into account, I think coaching had a lot to do with that (Dennis wasn’t a starter, neither was drumming, Gasol was handled extremely poorly, Harrell was to a lesser extent), and I think there was major overcorrection to those factors. We needed tweaks, not a Russ-level nuclear bomb.

The title itself wasn't a fluke in that we earned it on the same playing field everyone else was on. BUT I don't think we do it if the season doesn't get interrupted. Yes, everyone had the chance to get healthy just like us, but not having to go a sustained 9 months gave our second most important player the chance he needed to actually finish. I don't think AD is capable of making it all the way through the regular season and then a full playoffs nonstop.

How dare you insinuate that AD is injury prone!

On an earlier topic here I think the concept of “other than winning a championship Lebron’s time as a Laker is a failure” is besides the point. I mean that’s a heck of a caveat - well it’s a failure other than a championship! That is and was the goal: Lebron bringing a chip back to LA. He did it and also set us up with AD who signed a long term contract here. Obviously Lebron’s window to get another is closing but he did get us number 17 to tie the C Bags. That’s an enormous thing. Anything else is a failure? Of course. Every season you don’t win the championship is a failure.

yeah, anytime i see that take i can't help but shake my head

there's franchises like the nuggets, jazz, suns, clippers, etc who have been around for half a century and haven't won sh**. calling lebron's tenure in LA a "failure" when they literally won a ring a year and a half ago is ridiculous
