lol, we didn't even offer nunn. which again is a good sign. we've basically learned how to game the system on 2nd rounders, so trading them isn't really a big deal to us (i imagine the league's going to look to close that loophole somehow, btw). had we gotten schroder to help us for dj/baze/ellington and 2 2nds, i would have been thrilled.
I can’t believe Rob tried to trade for the dumkopf. I am starting to believe that Rob is almost as big of a dumkopf.
It's amazing how high we all were on Rob for putting together the championship squad but I'm just as low on him now for seeing him recklessly abandon his wits and go from a role-player-money core group of role players + vet mins to solely a vet min group. He pulled the carpet out from under his head coach, I don't care what anyone says about Vogel, everyone knows he can coach a defensive team with the right pieces. Take them away and he's not gonna succeed for you.
agree that rob screwed up huge last summer, but i thought he was good the previous two (after being part of the major screwup in lebron's first year). so he's 2 and 2. i actually think he's done a pretty good job leveraging some relationships to make things happen, and i think he doesn't have the full autonomy that some gms have to pursue a consistent vision. until lebron's gone, you just have to deal with him being a shadow gm. and even after that, our organization has a weird structure with the rambii. gms can only do so much in these circumstances.
Completely agree with that assessment. I feel it's unfair when he is criticized as being the main responsible for this year's disaster.
it's shared, of course, but our stars brokering their own trades and our ownership pinching pennies are probably worse than rob signing small vet retreads to round out the roster. and tbh, the nunn thing sucked. no one could have foreseen that our biggest summer pickup would miss the entire year for a pretty mysterious injury that basically never keeps people out for a full year.
this season seems like such a mockery to everything holy in basketball I'm sure Rondo was glad to move on and play some ball Just wow to absolutely everything Lakers this year.
Rondo lied. Early in the season he said Westbrook was super smart on the floor and would figure it out.
All true but I feel that Rob is equal here in his decision to switch out everyone except the Klutch clients. No continuity at all from last year was a terrible idea too. Also he overpaid to get Westbrook. We should have gotten a pick from them not the other way around for taking Russ’s brutal contract off their hands while giving them three good contracts in return. Rob got robbed.
We did - we received two second rounders, IIRC. Washington got the better of the deal, though. It wasn't even close.
I’m done with him. I have no faith at all that he can fix this in less than five years. He’s turned a Championship squad into hot garbage in just two short seasons.
If our two superstars would have carried their weight this season, nobody would be complaining about Rob.
I couldn’t agree more, we still have two top 10 players. You can be competitive with that if they’re playing up to there level - OKC did it for years. Unfortunately neither have been healthy or at times playing at that level this season.
